I just wanted to report that my black TMO Note 8 does not have any "light bleed" or "bezel gap". I will have to check my wife's Gray one when I get home. Sorry to you that do have it.

Side note, 1200 nits is effin' bright!!! I put the screen all the way up on a white image and it kind of hurt my eyes to the point of squinting... AWESOME!!!

Forgot to come back and tell y'all what happened. Got my new phone shipped to store overnight.

The moment I got it home I went into a closet turned off all lights and.... lo and behold... no light bleed on my replacement.

Now even though this was a warranty exchange, they did not send me a brand new unit. It shipped in a box exactly the same and appeared to be from the same location that assurant ships their insurance claims.

It appears that my unit was a return one as it came empty with no s pen no charger or any accessories. Not happy that it was a refurb, but at least no more damn light bleed.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones and they got it right with my first exchange. I'm using the rhinoshield which prevents the "light bleed" from being visible but it would've been infuriating knowing that it was simply being hidden.

I know people say it's not a defect...but goddam it sure seems like a big one. If only some units have it others dont.... plus return/refurb units seems to have it fixed.... well if that's not a manufacturin defect/error....

Nice try trying to make this seem like a non-issue samsung. Did u pay YouTubers to make this seem normal? Sure seems that way....

...You need to wash it in gasoline and then try to dry it with an open flame .... ?

if you remember or take not imei code
or you can check your box and compare the imei code with your phone
you should can find out if your phone repaired or not
same box - with same imei code / serial number as the unit returned = same unit which mean they repaired it

if me i prefer to live with light leak instead they repairing my brand new unit
as for repaired unit, we always some concern to ip68 resistant that is no as good anymore as brand new

i got 3 exchange each time with new phone (it tooks around 1~2weeks each replacement)... and all of them have some light leak
i kinda regret replacing my first unit, as probably that the better one compared to rest of replacement unit
my first unit light leak only visible when i check it on certain degree not when straight up looking on the screen
some replacement unit have visible just by seeing straight into the screen
the unit i decide to go with have quite visible light leak near volume button- but no light leak on right side
as minor bonus, i got better chip binning with this unit also

if i push samsung, i might can get another exchange, but i think that will be the last too and no warranty i will getting better unit that the one i own right now.
well i got tired with all the exchange either, and quite satisfied enough with their service (keep changing with new unit, rather than servicing the unit)

That freaking sux. I can't imagine having to go through that process as many times as you have only to end the same.

That was one of my main concerns when I took it to the the store. The phone I had previously only had the issue on the left side and I was concerned with the new phone having the issue on both sides instead of just one.

I think had the phone had the same issue still o so ply would've kept it as is since my bumber case covers it anyways, and I never remove the bumbper anyways.

I actually got to keep my phone 'til the new device arrived in store. It's not like I shipped them mine then sent they me a new one. It's definitely a different phone than mine but no way to tell if it's refurb :/ It had no imei sticker in the back and it didn't come in a samsung box like a retail unit. Simply arrived in a tmobile box exactly like the one assurant had used to ship me my LG v20 insurance claim replacement unit. That's why I was thinking refurb.

My dad went through 4 note 8s and all have light bleed. Our local best buy and tmobile display units all had light bleed as well. My 950FD that I bought off eBay barely has any. It's just a small slit not the whole edge. I had this same issue on my S8+ on all 4 corners of the phone. I'm case anyone is wondering this does NOT impact water resistance AT ALL. Have used both phones countless times in the rain and in the shower full dunked in water and have had no issues.

Aww thank God
I thought I was the only one having this light bleed and I was afraid that there is a gap on the screen which will make my device not water resistant.
Now I m a little relieved and my UAG case covers it entirely :)

Cant work out if you are serious or not?

If you are bored with the Note 8 then my guess would be you are bored with mobile smartphones?

I think its the most versatile smartphone on the market. So customisable its unique.

Same issue here

I also have this issue affecting 3 replacement devices so far. I can fit the edge of a piece of paper between where the screen meets the body. Water can also get inbetween there. I am never purchasing or, supporting Samsung again!

What did you have between your first Note 8 and your second? Did you buy a new Note 8, or one off of swappa?
