I have restarted all network configuration. Tested it and it did not help - there is still the same problem - I am going to elevator - going out - internet stops working - changing between preferred network type (or phone restart) - and it is back again.

This doesn't look like a firmware issue, but a modem issue.
You can try flashing different modem via twrp that fixes most issues (compatible with all sdm630 models: s2 4/64, c10, s3): https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=892500&view=findpost&p=94483328
After flashing, it's recommended to reset network settings: Settings -> System -> Restore Settings -> Restore Wi-Fi, Mobile Network and Bluetooth settings.

Also, it could be your mobile operator config issue, not re-enabling mobile data for your after you lost signal and not related to device at all. Changing network LTE/3g effectively re-registers you to that operator thus re-enabling mobile data.

you are right
s2 modem is outdated.
LOS 17.1 works on qcril, thats officially supported by PIE Q modems, s2 has Oreo only.
But it works.

anyone test newer version? btw buy a magnet cover to use hall sensor capabilities

LTE issues with certain sims - on all LOS17.1 builds

you are right
s2 modem is outdated.
LOS 17.1 works on qcril, thats officially supported by PIE Q modems, s2 has Oreo only.
But it works.

anyone test newer version? btw buy a magnet cover to use hall sensor capabilities

I'm also getting LTE / modem / signal / sim issues that just started recently, still present on clean 02.08 build for me, the recommended OEM parts update zip didn't fix either (it definitely partially improved issue through). Issue is only for certain network providers, others are fine. Details in hidden section below below/logcat (probably unecessary detail but hey i'm a newb so figure i'll list in case helpful)

Recently got similar modem error to baszek (loss of LTE signal) but couldn't fix it with restart. I was on LOS17.1 20200513 build and everything was working fine, then a week ago suddenly no LTE at all , using same sim that was previously receiving full LTE signal in the past (network: kogan australia) . Little 'x' symbol shows next to reception bar and I get no LTE (but could call/txt). Unlike baszek, couldn't be fixed by restarting/changing network prefs/resetting network in settings. I could get 4G with no issues when using friends sim from other carrier (telstra network) in my SS2 though; and friends iphone can get LTE signal from my sim without issue. But when my sim is in SS2 , there is LTE issue.

I have now done full format and clean install of 02.08 build, modem/LTE issue still persists. So I installed the recommended OEM parts update to update modem, LTE issue still persists (if i turn off data/lose reception LTE doesn't come back, also LTE doesn't come after making a phone call), but now LTE signal is restored temporarily by restarting system just like user baszek described. attached log for my SS2 if it helps. My upgrade path has been stock 00CN_1_35J > stock 00WW_1_35F. > trebled 3.1 > trebled 3.3 > LOS17.1 versions since Jan2020.

also AR mode works on 02.08 build!, but face unlock does not for my SS2, should be in logcat too. -fixed by giving perm to face unlock app in settings.

------------
UPDATE: I reverted to clean Treble 3.3 again and had fully functional LTE signal from same sim that was having above LTE issues on all builds of los17.1. Then from Treble 3.3 I then followed instructions to clean install 20200116 build, and immediately had LTE signal issues again. After this clean tried clean new install of 13.05, 24.07 and 02.08 - all had LTE issues from this SIM (all still using modem from Treble 3.3 which is 2140 modem). Because Treble 3.3 sim signal is fine, this means there is something specific to LOS17.1 builds that causes these LTE issues (complete loss of LTE after losing reception or making phone calls, sometimes fixed by system restart) but only on some sim cards / retail provider networks. So this issue has now been confirmed by multiple users: xdaillum here and also baszek here, possibly others.

I'm going to switch providers to Boost/Belong on the Telstra network which i have confirmed already do not suffer the LTE/data issues at all from my testing on LOS17.1 builds, but wanted to give a detailed issue report as would be cool to see a fix and in case someone else reads this. The easiest solution for now is to choose a different network provider!
