Lineage by Ripee and Netflix in HD

Here you find Ripee's unofficial lineage 14. The rom haven't got a thread but it is working great. I didn't test it all, but haven't found any bugs after using a few weeks. It is literally a nightly, every day a new build (but there aren't always changes (see size of the file). But it remains smooth. And Netflix is working!

Here is how to get Netflix working in HD (the Netflix app doesn't recognize our tab as HD by default). You can rebuild the apk yourself or use the rebuild apk from Jens1969. After the update from Netflix, he share's his rebuilded apk. Find his latest post in the thread.

I build for gts210wifi daily because that's the tablet I have an I'm too impatient to wait a week for official builds. I haven't created my own thread since there is no need to create more than one thread for unofficial builds if official builds are available. Netflix works in my builds because I've kept T_I's original fix from way back when (see my github), which he abandoned on gerrit on the grounds of its being "inelegant". As a user, I don't care whether it's elegant or not, I care that it works! This fix is a silver bullet: it restores the functionality of a very popular app without having any effect on the other functions of the tablet.

If there is interest in the other variants of the 2015 Tab S2, I will build them. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to fix the bluetooth, mic, and fingerprint problems of the gts28wifi. Since only the 9.7 ones have official builds, I may also start building daily for gts28wifi and gts28ltexx.

On a related matter, we have official TWRP for all 4 variants and the latest bootloaders and modems for all 4 in my BL_CP folder on BasketBuild.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I was wondering why Netflix wasn't even showing itself as available to me on Lineage official 14.1 and found this pointer.

I used the most recent apk from Jens and am able to run NF again.

I have a question about the netflix, back when I was using aosp on my T810, the widevine only supported the L3 security level, for using the Netflix in FullHD at the max bitrate is needed the L1 security level ( The case of the stock rom ), back when the patched apk came, the Tab S2 wasn't working FullHD even having the Widevine L1 on stock rom, later on samsung fixes this issue.
For my understating when I was using my T810 with unlocked bootloader (2016-ish) , even with the patched Netflix apk, the FullHD content will not work on devices that not support the Widevine L1.
So my question, right now the Netflix only works at 720x480 or is possible to play at 1920x1080 in high bitrate? This is the only reason I am on Stock Rom, besides fingerprint.

There's a collection of video test patterns, that identifies the stream set's maximum encoded resolution. If you could test this, I will be very grateful to you, I don't have the time to unlock bootloader, reinstalling all my apps and restoring my data right now.
Here's the link : https://www.netflix.com/title/80018499 ( Test Patterns 2014 ). Be sure to test with a large bandwidth connection to be certain that is indeed the DRM that blocks 1080 at bitrate of 4000+ kbps.

Hmm, it get not higher then 720x480 with none of the video's in the link (downloadspeed 50 mb/s). A bit disappointing...

Yeah, really disappointing, I tested yesterday the app from Playstore and didn't work 1080p either, only with the patched apk.
I searched the reason only to find that the Galaxy Tab S2 only support streams in FullHD officially on 6.0 and 6.0.1 OS. ( and I am almost sure that a few months ago my tablet was playing FullHD on nougat, so this is bad. )

Netflix is really strict with DRM, few devices mine play at full capacity of my plan. It's time to look for other replacement, wasting time to patch a app to work with your device, or keep trying to pass SafetyNet only to update the app via Play Store, It's really sad, seeing the mainstream brands closing down to freedom of the users.

I hope you can build one for smt 715 variant. All the rom i've tested so fare have fingerprint problems but i use it a lot. If you find a way tab s2 8" user will be very grateful =D

currently the most stable rooted rom is Posiedon
