Lineage 17.1 / Android 10 seems very solid

Seems like a very solid build. I also loaded latest Magisk and OpenGAPPS latest NANO version.

Magisk safetynet check ctsProfile fails (due to unlocked bootloader) but basicintegrity passes. Google Play app shows device as not certified. Have tried clearing cache and data to get that certified but have not been able to fix yet. Any way to fix that?

Kudos to Jleeblanch and I am hopeful we'll get periodic updates of this build because it is really great. Ideally, it would be amazing if the Moto Z3 Play were officially supported by LineageOS 17.1.

What does the LineageActions.apk do?

Only noticed 2 "issues". 1) Google Play shows device as not certified and 2) somewhat low speech volume when using the default AOSP phone app; there are various fixes by modifying mixer_paths.xml located in system/vendor/etc and I will try that.

I am pretty picky when it comes to Android ROMs and this ROM is a winner. @jleebranch did a really great job with this ROM. Really amazed at how well it works.

Feedback after some days of using the lineage-17.1-20200722-UNOFFICIAL build for Moto Z3 Play. The build is pretty stable and thanks to @Jleeblanch for making this build. I hope @Jleeblanch will keep supporting this cool build and it would be amazing if the Moto Z3 Play were supported officially by Lineage OS. A couple feedbacks:
- The phone volume is very low. When using the AOSP phone app with speaker phone it is not useable due to low volume. Modifying mixer_paths.xml located in system/vendor/etc does not appear to be a solution. Cannot flash GAPPS and use standard Google phone dialer as the Lineage 17.1 ROM will not boot if any stock apps are replaced. @Jleeblanch is there a solution for this?
- Cannot replace any of the stock apps with Google GAPPS version. Would be nice if we could flash standard GAPPS versions and replace some of the AOSP apps.
- I hope @Jleeblanch will provide lots of updates for this ROM!!! Thank you @Jleeblanch, you rock!!!

I'm glad to hear about this build :)

I just checked at https://support.motorola.com/us/en/softwareupgrade Motorola will not update our phone to android 10 nor security updates :(

My phone is still boot locked but not for long.
Indeed, motorola really let us down. They were supposed to bring two software upgrades for their Z line and one software upgrade their G line.
This is supposed to be $500 device and it is barely getting two years of software support, it is even worse that it is Android Enterprise, which are supposed to get three years of security updates but they can even manage to get that right.
I just hope that some Android news site shames on them for their lack of commitment to their customers.

Moto mods manager is definitely not working correctly for the battery pack besides not being able to see the packs % in the drop down. The Battery Mode does nothing if you set it to "efficiency". The pack keeps the phones battery at 100% until its drained then drains the phones internal battery (which is the default setting). The developer said Moto mods support is limited so we were forewarned.

Build is super stable and fast for me. My phone was literally unbearable with the rooted stock rom. This is night and day difference compared to it.

Is anyone having issues activating/using USB debugging?

I need it, but the "Revoke" option is missing, and the authorize message when I plug it into the PC it's not showing up.

Does anyone here have a good full guide on flashing TWRP and this rom onto our phones? The moto Z3 is my DD so I need it and can't risk bricking her. :( Really upset with Moto for not giving us the Android 10 update like they promised when the phone was bought. TBH, isn't that like a failure on their part? Class action lawsuit anyone??

if you have advertisements or official documentation that promises the A10 upgrade, then you have a legal case.

Motorola in their ads committed 2 major updates. Pie was the first one. Android 10 was supposed to be the 2nd update but apparently they had to back out after trying to upgrade in Brazil.

Many online reviews published about 2 updates but I did not find this info in any kind of official ads nor in Motorola website - not even using the archive.org. At least not for Moto Z3 Play.
Let me know if you find any ;)

Indeed, it really seems they covered their tracks well, I guess they learned it from the G4+ fiasco.

Hey everyone, sorry for neglecting Beckham for a while [emoji1751]

I come with potential gifts if anyone is willing to test...

Lineage 17.1

Notes
  • Initial release
  • Audio mods support is present, but need users willing to test and grab logs
  • SELinux enforcing
  • Moto Camera included by default
  • CDMA networks untested

Please keep in mind that Moto mods support is limited in it's functionally compared to stock. Moto adds changes to frameworks and system that will most likely never be included in Lineage.

Don't hesitate to report your findings (preferably with logs if applicable). New updates will be available as I find and fix any issues I (we) come across.

Can you post what you used to make your build? I created a build but it won't boot. If you can get me to the point where the build works, I should be able to keep up with the monthly security patches and post the builds up for other people to use.

I have many moto mods....cameras, battery, projector, alexa to name a few. Perhaps everything except the game controller.

What mods actually work in this rom? That was the whole reason for buying this phone over others for me. I never thought updates would end less than a year after I purchased it.

I think we can all agree that we got stiffed by Motorola. The phone is actually pretty OK and supports many standards. But lack of SW development bites. @Jleeblanch the offer from @mintyfreshness seems to solve a real problem. @mintyfreshness is offering to compile builds if you could provide a little guidance at the start. This seems like a big win for the community so I hope you could help @mintyfreshness get started!

I responded to someone thru email with pretty detailed information on how to compile beckham, not sure if that was you or not?

Regardless, it's irrelevant now. Beckham is accepted and official LineageOS builds will start rolling very soon.

Quick question, anyway used (or attempted to use) GSI's using my latest Lineage build as a base?

@Jleeblanch running your unofficial build from 11/03/2020 and it seems quite solid. Looking forward to the 1st official Lineage OS build. Many thanks to you for creating and perfecting the Lineage OS build for the Z3 Play. The Z3 Play is actually a pretty good terminal with good HW specs and your work is making the SW great.

Agree! That is amazing news!!! Can't wait to get the official builds. Many thanks to @Jleeblanch
Didn't make it in time for this week's builds, so hopefully by next week!

Thanks! You guys are more than welcome to stalk gerrit in the meantime. There are 2 changes left (wiki & hudson) that need to be merged before builds start rolling. Once they are, you can count on seeing a build released during the next/upcoming cycle. Currently 17.1 is shipping weekly.

Also, once the first build goes live, I'll create a new new thread for official and future updates.

I can only say @Jleeblanch the following THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU. Great work. I hope it is OK to give feedback and I am so looking forward to the official builds you are queuing up.

November 3, 2020 unofficial Lineage OS ROM, from https://dl.jleeblanch.com/LineageOS/beckham/

Load procedure I used:
I Loaded JleeBranch TWRP from fastboot using "flash boot TWRP.img"
From TWRP, wiped and reformatted data, loaded file "copy-partitions-20200903_1329.zip" before flashing ROM
After flashing Nov 3 Lineage OS unofficial, loaded GAPPS ARM64 Nano to preserve AOSP apps on the ROM

My experiences with this ROM:
I am using the AOSP versions for messages, phone, calendar, keyboard etc that came with the ROM and the AOSP versions work well
Media speaker volume is great, for example playing YouTube using the speakers on the phone is EXCELLENT
Seems to be a very stable ROM
Fast ROM (phone has a Qualcomm octacore w/4GB RAM), much faster than stock ROM
WIFI, fingerprint scanner, casting work very well, did not test Bluetooth yet
Camera does not allow change from phone storage to SD card storage (when I make the change in app settings to SD Card, it reverts itself back to Phone)
Volume during phone calls (speaker phone and ear piece) are lower than liked, would be great if the phone parameter setting matched Media setting for volume
