File transfer doesn't work when USB debugging gets enabled on Huawei P Smart. It always reverts back to USB charging this device option, no matter which option I choose.

Did you install Magisk by any chance? Remove it.

Magisk causes issues with USB connectivity on Phh ROMs, at least on Huawei devices - they simply don't appear over USB at all, regardless of how you configure the port.

Are you sure you did it right? It did work for me and I was having the same problem earlier!

First try status on the OP6, no boot, no logcat
Black screen after bootloader unlocked warning
Tho computer makes a sound as a device has been connected, and notification LED lights up

Thanks, after many hours it took me to restore the original system image (flashed original firmware), I finally managed to "remove" Magisk. The problem is... If there's no Magisk, what to use for root manager? I'm looking forward to Magisk treble-enabled Huawei devices update though

More than that, F-droid privileged extension does not work on this ROM. Is the extension at fault? I'd try Magisk module at least to resolve this but since Magisk is out of the way...

Have been trying to get v4 running on the Huawei P20, but it gets stuck in the bootscreen. It runs perfectly with v3 though.
Has someone managed to get v4 running on a P20?
Did multiple wipes, reinstalled EMUI a few times, tried every trick i know or could find. So far no luck, luckily v3 works good enough. It would have been nice though to take advantage of the kirin970 fixes included.

Boot into system and then reboot to recovery
Flash gaps and swipe for a factory reset
Now things should be fine

I really feel like I've been doing things the way you said it so if you could tell me what I'm doing wrong, that'd be great.

I used this one. I just flashed opengapps and magisk in trwp for gapps and root.

I have the L21 version and used the same system image as you did but I'm getting this error...

As I said in your github, the problem is with the hw codec. The sw codec works but not smooth when the videos are 1080+ and x265 10bit (specially the 10 bit videos).
