Has someone been able to successfully install Edxposed? I always get stuck in a bootloop. It would be nice to be able to use Amplify and Greenify.

Well I found my answer in the thread:

OK, just deactivated greenify and amplify and you know what? Systems uses even less power now :)
Nice.
Clock alarm seems to work too, but I need to check.
Sorry for the double post...fumbling hands

Hi,
since the last update my phone battery doesn't last the day ( normally 2 full days) and the phone is very slow.
Am I the only one to have this problem?
Seems to come from the mobile network signal.
Tried to have only 3G or only 4G or no data and that doesn't change.

Can I roll back to the previous release?

Hi,

I did rollback to the previous release and I am back to 2 days of battery, no more overheating, and less freezing...

Anyone else?

Tested it now for more than two days. Battery still has more than 80%. No network drop out. No overheating. No slowing down. Works as expected.
But I'm a "normal" user! For me this is a phone! Not a gaming machine, not a streaming client. It has to serve network, wlan (if available), bluetooth (if necessary) and nothing else. I'm making phone calls, I'm using SMS, Threema and Telegram. And sometimes I'm using eMail and browser. (That's what I meant with "normal") My battery always "lives" more than two days; even when I'm hearing music with headphones.
Please fetch a radio log and send it to me if you want me to have a look into that issue.

Two days of battery life... The last time I had this was with my z3c. With the z5c I barely reach one day when using it "normally". Your description of "normal" seems to meet my usage. Except maybe that I leave Bluetooth mostly on since I have Bluetooth headphones.
Anyway, the real waster of energy is the cpu. Even with light tasks like web browsing or Google maps the device becomes pretty warm. With more "extreme" use cases like filming, watching YouTube videos, navigating or a very active modem due to bad network coverage the back becomes barely touchable. This can be moderated a little bit with the power profile set to energy saving.
I thought this behaviour is normal for the z5c but your description tells a different story. Could there be something wrong with my device or is this software related? Idle mode and Android OS use the most energy due to battery monitor. Apart from that there is no rogue process in the background (as far as I can tell).

I really don't know. As I said in earlier posts, I'm now using an iPhone 8 as daily driver and my z5c is only for "playing around".
But I'll change my sim card and use the z5c for some days asap. Then I'll see... ;)

Test started with about 80% of battery on september 26th 9pm CEST (directly after my post above) and stopped it with about 9% of battery on september 28th 8pm CEST in "real live conditions". Will say, I've used my z5c as usual: Making phone calls, sending and receiving messages, browsing the web, sending and receiving eMail, navigating with google maps, taking pictures and running through my home town more than two ours hearing loud music via headphones. Some times I've been at home (wlan) and some times I've been outside (normal network from very slow up to LTE). Battery drain has been higher outside; but here in my home town the network is not the very best (we have a lot of wood with no network coverage); so, the device has to search for network very often.
No overheating, no slowing down, no unusual network drops, nothing to remark.

Result: About two days of battery live. :good:

Mission accomplished!

I don't think that will help. My z5c was always like this, also with earlier builds or back then when there were official builds. I'm starting to wonder if there are batches of the z5c that suck up more energy than others. Especially the heating up was reported as an usual behaviour of the z5c, even with the original OS.

I am starting to wonder about the same thing.
I had the phone for 3 years and it always heated up when using intensively, i tried almost every custom rom available for it and only now i'm starting to realise that maybe my unit was defective from the beginning and the heating isn't "regular" behaviour.
@Berni-0815 is it possible for you to record a full geekbench test with CpuFloat app on top of it? It's all i need to confirm this theory that some z5's (like mine) have hardware issues

New version out; see 1st post
THX for the new version.

You wrote on the first post that you add/patch the current security patch level

  • New: Android security patch level: 5 September 2019 (see screenshot)
This is the reason why I update the rom. But it is very strange that my settings show me an older date:
Yours:

Is there a reason for that?

By the way:
Dear Bernhard, thank you for your work on this rom. I am still using this device and I am happy to get every month the current android patches from your build. If I am reading it right you just doing this for the community because you did not use your suzuran a lot. This is awesome! If I can help you in any way, just write me.

Beste grüße,
Idijt
