No Enough words can express my gratitude for keeping this tablet alive . Thanks
My mini problem is i have to install a sensitive app the refuse due to being rooted so how or can i remove root from this version
what i tried
1- disbale root from dev setting .
2- install SU then remove it .. though i can flash it normally from twrp recovery when rebooted i canot find his icon !!! then i tried remove SU for lineage 16 but still the root is here
3- tried with magisk .. i read that on old devices you can flash the apk in recovery after changing its type from apk to zip . tried with no use
4- then tried to go batch way which i need boot.img for .. i tried the boot file in the lineage image which the app faild to batch .. then i read that i need the stock boot ... so i tried from ofiicial kit-kat room i have .. the room extension is tar.md5 and after opening it with winrar i found the boot.img the magisk manager batch it with no error but when i flashed this to the table i got a loophole of restarting .. so i have to wipe all and reinstall clean

so any way - preferbaly easy one - where i can either unroot this room or an app that can hide the root

It depend how you've rooted this device, if it was for example with magisk,
open the manager and choose uninstall.

But did you root your device at all or why did you try different rooting methods?

If you install the ROM clean, it's unrooted and should pass the safetynet check.

Thanks for answer as for your question i didnot root the room .. maybe i rooted previous ones but once i wipe and install this - your - room it should remove any root right ? i usually wipe all before installing . so i didnot root and turing the option off is not helping . i am not familiar with safetynet but i just installed safteynet test app and it say my tablet passed but the app insist that i am rooted .

Ok, maybe the app doesn't detect root rights in your case, it may not support LineageOS.
But I don't know, if you're passing the safety net check, then there are no root rights detected.

Hello,

I can't get the automatic design switching (bright/dark) to work. I turned on "Settings > Design > automatic (daytime)", but that setting is not recognized: after sunset the bright design is being kept.

To my shame, I'll have to admit I can't recall any more if it did work before the latest update. :(

I already tried wiping cache, restarting the system and un-setting and re-setting that option several times, but that did not make it work either.

Anything else I can try?

Hello,

I freshly installed your Lineage 16 on my tablet, and everything seems to work fine except that I am incapable of encrypting. The first time that I attempted to encrypt the device, it seemed to be partially successful, but then I was trapped in TWRP with the "Keep System Read Only" prompt and my internal storage showing 0 MB. Nothing that I tried could escape constantly rebooting to this message, so I assumed that I was unable to mount internal storage, wiped+formatted it and planned to clean install LOS and pico Gapps.

At this point I noticed that my external SD was unable to be recognized either by the tablet or my PC via adapter for some reason. I pulled new copies into internal storage via USB and clean installed that way. I assume that my Nandroid and Titanium backups are lost and that the SD card will need to be reformatted.

Now on the fresh install, I attempted to encrypt again, but this time I just see the encrypting droid picture for a few seconds and then the system reboots. Any recommendations on other things to try? I unfortunately cannot restore any backups unless I figure out a way to extract data from my External SD, and I'm wondering if whatever happened to the SD card is related to the encrypting problem.

EDIT: With further screwing around, I was able to make encryption work, but things feel off. I occasionally see the "Keep System Read Only" prompt in recovery and the device seems sluggish and occasionally glitchy. So I plan to nuke the device from orbit and start over with a clean slate. The smart way to do that would be to format internal SD, flash stock firmware in download mode, flash TWRP in download mode, then install LOS and Gapps, and then finally encrypt the device, correct?

Was your external sd formated as internal memory?
This could have be the problem.

Are you using my TWRP with encryption support?
All other versions doesn't support this.

I'm not quite sure how I would have managed to do that, but I'd think I would still be able to view the SD card via adapter on a PC if that was the case.

I was using TWRP 3.5.0 which to my knowledge does support encryption and was eventual successful with, but might as well upgrade to 3.6 while I'm doing the rest.

In recovery, I wiped + formatted the SD card to end up with a nice TWRP only device.
In Download mode, I Flashed the firmware under AP to return to stock.
I rebooted and clicked through the setup,
In Download mode, I flashed TWRP under AP with auto reboot unticked in Options
In Recovery, I wiped/factory reset, copied over LOS and Gapps (I guess I could have sideloaded), and flashed LOS and Gapps
I rebooted and clicked through the setup
I used this guide to edit build.prop without root (I prefer having software buttons, and need an app that bans rooting)
In Recovery, I resized the file system like you describe in the first post
I rebooted and encrypted the device

Thank you for you work on developing this ROM as well as your other contributions.
I still haven't figured out a way to rescue the SD card, so that might be a lost cause.

The OTA updater seems to be a bit of track: although the latest version (Jan 9th) is already installed, the updater offers to download and install it. Shouldn't the installed version be ignored by the updater?

I've been using my Samsung Note 8 for 2 years with Family Link for my daghter, and the improvement is wonderfull. The stock rom was not only slower and more límited, but wouldn't allow Family Link.

Thanks for your work!

I'm having the same issue for the first time with the OTA update. I'll ignore it. But if you could fix it, it would be wonderfull.

te quiero agradecer, ya instale la rom y las open gapps y mi hijo esta entretenido viendo videos de una tableta que tenia android 4.4.2 y ya ni se podia navegar en internet por los certificados vencidos de internet, igual te queria pedir si puedes desarrollar para la sm-t280 que esta muy complicado y no pude encontar ni una custom rom util y seria muy bueno para reanimar otra tableta vieja,

    Thank you so much for your work, HTML6405 - a donation will be winging its way to you soon! As others have said, it's like having a new tablet. It took me a few days of battling to get it all working - in the end, I flashed back a stock ROM, then went from TWRP 3.6.1 to 3.5.0 (installed through ODIN). The issue, in common with others, was that GApps wouldn't work for me. I managed to get it working in the end using MindTheGApps.

    Now just one minor irritation left that I'm trying to solve, but if you have any tips, they'd be gratefully received. Amazon Prime videos are scrambling when I try to play them. Google TV (ex Play Store) movies are fine, as are Disney+ ones. I don't have Netflix(!), so not able to test that. Any thoughts? (I'm a bit of a noob - no experience with ADB or deleting lines from places, but I can usually read code if I know where to start!)

    At first I want to thank @forkbomb444, @rINanDO, @ChronoMonochrome and all the others who are working on the exynos 4 devices, also big thanks to @prkfsz for donating me a n5120 and also the shipping cost.
    Also big thx to @cngbrick for donating a n5100.

    It already took me a few hundred hours and it will become more and more to support you with great updates.
    it's mostly based on my work on for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N80XX) devices.

    If you're having problems with decoding some videos (blurried),
    this is mostly because the avc hardware decoder gets configured wrongly.

    You can disable it with my magisk module:

    If you are going to use Gapps,
    I recommend to use the pico package!

    For the others, you can use microG if you want, I've enabled signature spoofing.

    If you want to pass the safety net check, root your device with magisk.

    You could use a gps.conf from https://app.box.com/s/w57s1v1n3hie7l5lk28i for your location and replace /system/etc/gps.conf.
    Or you try GPS Server Optimizer app for a faster 3D fix.
    For both methods you need root rights.
    If you plan to encrypt your device, the first step is to backup all your important stuff.

    Reboot into recovery and choose:

    Wipe->Advanced Wipe->Data (check)
    Choose "Repair or Change File System" and afterwards "Resize File System".
    After this step, choose Reboot System and you can start to encrypt your drive.
    If you can't find this option in the settings by your own, use the search function and type "encryption" and you can start.

    I won't promise this, because it's really much work to write down all rules and test everything,
    but we will see.

    Like on my other android 9 roms the people wanted as fast as possible android 11, so it also depends on what all people want to have.

    We only can sign it as user build, when we have all selinux rules written, so it depends on point one ;).

    Yes this could be, but I know how to fix this, made this already for the Note 10.1 devices working.

    Magisk Manger is included, because we need Magisk root to pass the safetynet check, it's more as a pointer to show the people how to root.
    (There were hundred questions how to root on my other roms, they dont read the initial post...)

    If we will have selinux enforcing once, I will remove it.

    Via is included because of many complaints of the surfing speed with the jelly browser, maybe I will remove it, I will think about it.

    OpenCamera is included because the gCam (lineage camera) is crashing sometimes, there are still problems with the camera hal, had to overwork it completely to even get the main camera working.

    Haha I know that very soon many people will ask.
    You all will make the choice if i should concentrate on security things or bring android 11 up,
    I exactly know how it runs because I've brought it already to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 devices ;) (same chipset...).
    The firmware makes real fun, but believe me, LOS16.0 runs much more smooth.
    Anyway, I will bring it up sooner or later, for me is more important to provide you a stable LOS16.0.
