LineageOS 16+AdAway - Do I need Magisk?

I have flashed LineageOS 16 on my Honor 5X and rooted it with addonsu-16.0-arm64-signed (2019-07-09). I want to install AdAway.
Now my questions:
- Was it a bad idea to root with the LineageOS SU-root?
or
- Or would it be better to root with Magisk because of AdAway?

Adaway works fine with native lineageOS su. Don't forget to enable root in developer options.
