LineageOS 18.1 Android 11 for GT-N8000 GT-N8005 GT-N8010 GT-N8013 GT-N8020 Beta EOL

I know, I was not able to fix the issue so far, every help is appreciated.

I uploaded a bug report for LOS 16. Hopefully you can get the storage issues fixed since I really hate this ROM!

It's not a fault of your own, but Google's.

Android 11's scoped storage is a fking nightmare for me. I can't use the file system like I normally could in older versions. For example, the OBB folder is restricted completely (which makes it nearly impossible for me to make manual backups of apps for offline installs, temporarily move them to external storage for more internal storage space, etc.)

Other than the stupid scoped storage restrictions on Android 11, this ROM runs fast.... Faster than your previous ROMS.

Android is moving backwards, while iOS is becoming better lol

First, iOS updates seems like a nightmare to me as they are famous, or infamous about their bugs and batterygate. Well I am not an apple user though, so not sure if they have improved.
Second, will you like to try out the EOL android 10 test build by html6405? Maybe that will be better for you.
Last but not least, does Google removed that feature in android 12?

Have you used the Android 10 test build? If so, what bugs does it have?
Since it's EOL (won't be getting updates), knowing what bugs it has would be useful to determine whether I can live with them or not.

I have sh!t internet (only 3 mbps and it's not that reliable), so every time I have to wipe and reinstall apps, sync accounts, etc. is a huge pain.

Also I'm an iOS user, but I haven't been one for as near as long as I have been an Android user. I remember back in Android 4.4 Google started messing with the storage permissions on Android. Many apps lost their ability to write to wherever we wanted, at least until they got updated for Storage Access Framework... but that's if they even got an update. IOS has been pretty smooth on my 2016 iPhone SE. Even still to this day, it gets good updates... my Razer Phone is my newest device but it no longer gets updates (perhaps I wouldn't mind an official Android 10 update, if it would come without scoped storage).

My favorite versions of Android (and the reasons why I liked them):
Android 4.4 KitKat:
- This was the transition period between Dalvik and the new runtime (which meant you could switch to the new runtime on some ROMs and still run old apps that used the old runtime).
- Lockscreen widgets. Easy to control my music player, and access other info I wanted.
- Introduced customizable quick controls in the notification panel
- Most polished version of Holo UI (which imho is the best Android theme, simple and dark mode as first priority).
- Could move apps to SD card on many devices easily.
- Highly performant. It was optimized to run on 512 MB of RAM.

Android 6 Marshmallow:
- Cyanogenmod 13 had a good theme engine, and I could make themes for it with a special app.
- Multiwindow support was introduced.
- Android 6 lacked SELinux (Viper Audio worked perfectly without any issues, SCR Pro screen recorder could record internal audio from any game, which would make for higher quality videos.) - I am not dumb, I don't download a bunch of malware or spyware (looking at you, Facebook!)... so I don't need extra security restrictions.

Well we can ask @html6405 first whether it is possible to remove restricted storage or not

I suppose so, but I imagine it's a lot easier said than done.

One thing to consider is that these devices are old, and therefore do not have a lot of built-in storage.
It's very easy to fill up the storage by just installing a few games that have large OBB files; to the point that you can't install app updates, download files, take screenshots, etc. By having access to the OBB folder, you can move a OBB file temporarily (to install updates, etc.) and then move it back (as long as there's enough space leftover). A!so, app support for 32 bit applications is already fading as well, so it can be beneficial to have access to the OBB folders to make backups of your existing apps (before an app update makes it incompatible with this device and you're no longer able to download the app from Google Play) that use the OBB files.

Well didn't catch up it is affecting rooted devices?

Download and flash this TWRP (choose the .IMG version), by transferring it to the Tab, click flash, and click select image to flash, then click twrp.img, then flash to recovery.
Then reboot recovery.
Wipe data then factory reset.
Download the ROM at this thread's original post, by clicking into 'spoiler:downloads' to download to PC, then move into the tablet via usb.
Then flash the ROM.
Then flash gapps at www.opengapps.org (remember, to select ARM(not 64), android 11, Pico).

Reboot system. Uncheck 'install twrp app' .

Thank you for the clarification.

Downloaded TWRP img file but could not flash directly from device; however flashed using ODIN

Download the 20210818 Rom and GApps pico to SD Card, flashed successfully and did a wipe / factory reset. The N8010 comes to the initial "Hi there "country selection screen" but when I touch the screen the device reboots or reboots even before make any selection or hit next.

The device is automatically rebooting at the initial setup screen stage.

Any solution for the auto reboot loop for my N8010 device.

Try reinstalling without gapps.
If it works, try flashing another version of gapps (as long as it is not bitgapps).

    Hi,

here you can find my preview build version of LineageOS 18.1 for our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 devices.
At first I want to thank @forkbomb444, @rINanDO, @ChronoMonochrome for all your work which helped me a lot to bring this up.

This is a early BETA build, so don't install it if you want a completley stable rom and don't report my already listet bugs!

I'm working nearly every day on our N80xx devices, because LOS18 runs much smoother than LOS17.1, I will continue here.

When you have BitGapps installed, you have to reflash them after every update!

Here you can see how far everything is working for now.

    N8000, N8010, N8013, N8020:
    • Boot
    • Audio
    • Bluetooth
    • Graphics
    • Cameras
    • Sensors
    • Wifi
    • GPS
    • USB
    • Video playback (HW/SW)
    • Tethering via USB, WIFI and Bluetooth
    • consumerir transmitter
    • Stylus with gestures and hovering icon
    • sec keyboard dock
    • RIL on N8000 (mobile connection)
    • much more...
    • Screen Cast, Chromecast did work, Samsung TV not
    • Main camera sometimes can't take a picture (reopen app or lower resolution)
    • Random reboots
    • N8020: RIL works 90%
    • Screen lightning bug, nearly eliminated
    • SD-Card can't be formatted as internal storage, this will cause a bootloop
You could use a gps.conf from https://app.box.com/s/w57s1v1n3hie7l5lk28i for your location and replace /system/etc/gps.conf.
Or you try GPS Server Optimizer app for a faster 3D fix.
For both methods you need root rights.
If you are going to use Gapps,
    here you can download them:
    Open Gapps
For the others, you can use microG in future.

    Do you like my work?
Than you can simply hit the thanks button and consider to spend me a coffee or a beer,
I'm doing this in my free time and it also costs a lot of money to buy hardware.

    donate

    Wanna improve your sound configs?
Now you can use my app to access all boeffla sound configurations.

This ROM is alpha, nobody can force me to bring any updates,
I'm doing this in my freetime, so be thankful if you get something.

I will proceed here as soon as I will have time, I didn't have LOS16.0 completed and I'm working hard to provide you a stable ROM.
LOS 16.0 is our major version, on LOS18.1 is much more work todo and much more framework hackings to get LOS18.1 as good compatible as possible.

I'm overtaking many things I make for LOS16.0 to 18.1, but this take's time.
I hate it if I get stressed, so please be patent or do it by your own,
this takes really much time, debugging, try things and so on.
