LineageOS 19.1 (Android 12L) [Signature Spoofing][OTA updates] for S7 Edge Exynos

The pros are that once the data partition is rooted, only those who have the password will be able to access your personal data. This is useful if your phone is lost or stolen. The cons are that you can no longer wipe cache and dalvik/cache via TWRP because recovery cannot read data partition. To get around this I use this app:

Another cons is that Magisk needs to be reflashed on every update but that's easy. Just rename the magisk apk from Magisk-v24.1.apk to Magisk-v.24.1.zip, and flash the zip file with TWRP. Obviously the zip must be on external sd card.
Another cons is that since Recovery cannot read internal storage (data partition), if you install a Magisk module or an app or change some file that takes the device to a bootloop, it will not be possible to uninstall the app or module or revert the change on the file through TWRP to recover the device and you will probably have to format data partition and maybe even reinstall the ROM to recover the phone. The only way to reverse device's encryption is format data partition with TWRP (format, not wipe).
I think is advisable to make a backup of data and especially EFS partition (backup of device IMEI) before encrypting or installing a new ROM and save on a external storage.
You can recover from bootloop caused by an app by restarting in safe mode and uninstalling the app.

In another context it has been discussed that hiding the Magisk app (by renaming it to a random package name) and the TWRP tree in storage (by also renaming it) may additionally require renaming of the "survival script" in /system/addon.d/

I was wondering if any of you are experiencing significant battery drain? I'm finding that this ROM drain battery rapidly despite being so light. I'm going to try running a completely light build with no Gapps soon but I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing in the meantime. Thank you for anyone who has some insight.

This is awesone news Ivan, is the lower power cpu state similar to Samsungs 70% cpu power or a lot less?

Oh it disables 2 big cores and does some other tweaks so yeah something like that

Since my birthday is tomorrow I decided to release a little surprise build. Here is a brief changelog:
- Updated libexynosdisplay from BSP to comply with some android 12 changes
- Removed unused build.prop entries
- Fixed few selinux denials related to hwc props
- Improved UI performance and stability
- Cleaned up source
- Removed more unneeded patches for device support
- Synced with LineageOS source
Im aware of Seedvault issue curently present and im working on a fix for it.
I wanted to release something as a gift from me to everyone using this rom and supporting this project throughout the years. Keeping older phones alive and up to date is really fun hobby and I don't think I would've kept doing it if it wasnt for all of the support from the comunity.

In Android 13 can we expect the system partition to be moving to EROFS since full Android version upgrades are normally done via full flashes.

Its a Bug?
Great ROM , very stable . only question i have Is if the fingerprint sensor working in the ROM or is it just my phone that's broken? Also does anybody have a link to a compatible GCAM package.

Fingerprint sensor works on my S7Edge. I use of for opening and closing device. Damn, it was working before I flashed but now its dead, everything else works perfectly, is there anything I can check / wipe or reinstall to regain finger print sensor function, reading some other people with same problem they say you need to flash Roms in stages, I flashed directly from Oreo (I think) should I have flashed to Pie or 10 before Lineage 19

- HWC And most of display hals will be updated and open sourced
- Keystore will also be looked into a bit further to see if there are edge cases left where some secure apps break
- OMX again without going into too much details we will see some changes on that end and it will be open sourced
- Camera, well ill just let this one be a surprise for now since it will require most work
Some other small notes since s7 i use to develop this rom on has broken screen (i use scrcpy to mirror screen on pc)

- Fixed issues with keystore present in a lot of bank/secure apps like binance
- Fixed issue where setupwizard would crash when adding fingerprint due to bug in keystore
- Cleaned up patches required for build and removed unneeded ones

This was one of hardest things to track down and it prevented some security related apps from working, big thanks to everyone who supported this project and got me coffee (This took over a month on and off time to debug and figure out, one of weirdest error caused by googles keystore changes in android 12) and thanks to those who helped cover the build server cost

there was a weird bug in audio hal that was causing it.
Big thanks to @Bujiraso for playing with props and audio configs which at the end lead me to finding bug in audio hal.
Now im only waiting for google to push June security update source so I can start compiling builds and release them3
well there is no volte so its expected for data to switch from 4g to 3g or even 2g in call, if it didnt happen you would have no ability to make/recieve voice calls at all -

Keep in mind that some LineageOS features have not been completed yet this is not a device bug and please do not report those
in this rom thread, also do not post bug reports for known issues or bug reports without proper
a) Logcat
b) proc/last_kmsg (or proc/kmsg)

Install gapps right after installing the rom itself don't try to boot to system before that if you want to use gapps (Or wipe data before installing them)
Make sure gapps you decide to use support android 12L/12.1/Are targetting api level 32
Also make sure you are using latest official TWRP before installing rom older versions do not have proper android 12 support
If you want to use Magisk use latest Magisk Beta (25.0) or Magisk 24.1, there is bug in 24.3 that was fixed after its release that prevents zygisk from working on some devices with 3.18 kernel

Status: Stable21Well here are some progress update of whats happening behind the scenes.
Ive given 4.4 kernel from 8895 another go and got even further in porting it to 8890 devices this time around.
Mali drivers are ported so is decon (display and graphics stack is up)
I also managed to port audio drivers, buttons and their backlight.
UFS storage drivers were somewhat pain but i got them to work too
and there is tons of small stuff like fp sensor,thermal driver and misc
Tho im not sure it makes too much sense to do this as 4.4 kernel is eol too at least it has full bpf support which i got working on 8895 devices
Other than that there is not too much going on right now, There are few selinux policies that will have to be dealt with and im still dealing with audio config
tho i could only notice echo and not robotic voice some people noticed so that leads me to believe it could be related to weird modem missmatches
I might release another quick build this month with few audio related improvements
No etas as i do this in my free time, And as always thanks to everyone who supported this project so fat as thanks to them this project and device are still alive on latest android version even 6 years after its release (fun fact s7 series was announced on 21. feb. 2016.) so this is somewhat of a s7 birthday update on progress17After a long wait, here it is, Surprisingly smooth android 12 on s7

About camera, As some of you might be aware camera tends to crash afterprolongued use, Im investigatinga fix for it but due to nature of issue itself it might take time
to figure this out completely and what the best way to deal with it is.

keep in mind February security update has not been merged yet and should be in a few days so ill post new build once security update is ready
This really took a long time to fix properly (almost 2 years i would say) especially without disabling fdsan system wide
This fix will be ported over to 17.1 and 18.1 builds too but before i release them ill hold on till february security update is out
Next thing on my todo list is to somewhat mitigate echo in calls some users are experiencing
