Keep in mind that some LineageOS features have not been completed yet this is not a device bug and please do not report those
in this rom thread, also do not post bug reports for known issues or bug reports without proper
a) Logcat
b) proc/last_kmsg (or proc/kmsg)
c) data/tombstones
d) dmesg

Install gapps right after installing the rom itself don't try to boot to system before that if you want to use gapps (Or wipe data before installing them)

Make sure gapps you decide to use support android 12L/12.1/Are targetting api level 32
Also make sure you are using latest official TWRP before installing rom older versions do not have proper android 12 support

If you want to use Magisk use latest Magisk Beta (25.0) or Magisk 24.1, there is bug in 24.3 that was fixed after its release that prevents zygisk from working on some devices with 3.18 kernel

I had the same Problem after the first reboot. Just flash twrp again using heimdall, then everything works fine again

There seems to be an issue with build.prop. I increased volume steps there, restarted and nothing has changed. The same method is working in LineageOS 18.1.

Upgrade was smooth from 18.1 with Nikgapps R and Action Launcher.
Flashed latest TWRP - 3.6.latest;
Wiped system, cache, Dalvik but not data;
Installed zips lineageos 19, Nikgapps S full, Magisk 23, all in a row, reboot system took about as long as expected.

All apps data, wi-fi passwords app PINs, hotspot and launcher settings kept, although permissions for all apps seem to be reset to default, but Magisk SU permitted apps kept.

Nice and smooth phone calls are fine but I hate, HATE that wi-fi and mobile internet are in one quick settings now requiring and extra step to get wi-fi networks list.
Haven't tested music with The Good Headphones yet but will :)
Thanks to @Ivan_Meier as always

PS any f2fs support for cache or system and exFAT for ext_sdcard?

September builds are out, You can get them from this thread of via OTA update.

18.1 and 20.0 builds will be out next week hopefully.

As you might also know Android 14 release is nearing, from what i know so far it will require more BPF backports which ill try to work around till we get more recent of a kernel running on exynos 8890
So s7 will live to see yet another android version, other than that there shouldnt be major changes needed.

As always huge thanks to everyone who supported this project, Helped cover the build server cost and got me coffee.

Enjoy new builds and stay safe

My experience with LineageOS 19 after returning from 20

I had LineageOS 20 running on my two Samsung Galaxy S7s for a long time because I thought the more up-to-date the better.

But since in LineageOS 20 (= Android 13) you can no longer format the SD card as internal storage, and I missed that a lot over time, I went back to LineageOS 19 (= Android 12) two weeks ago.

And what can I say: 19 runs smoother and more stable than 20, everything works fine, I'm very satisfied.

It is probably the case that the two Galaxy S7 run very stably up to Android 12 or LineageOS 19, but from Android 13 (LineageOS 20) it may become too stressful for the older hardware.

But maybe that's just subjective. It should also be mentioned that of course I work without *Gapps, so my S7 are also GSF-free (without any Google stuff) under LineageOS 19.

Anyway, many thanks to everyone who makes LineageOS, many thanks also to everyone who makes XDA, and many thanks of course to @Ivan_Meler

And if I should have forgotten anyone: many thanks to you too!

Because for someone like me, who is unfortunately severely disabled and therefore lives on a very small pension, it is very helpful and good if you don't have to save yourself a new expensive smartphone from the mouth, but buy older used ones and with that and thanks to LineageOS a lot can save costs.

Long live LineageOS and XDA and @Ivan_Meler

And I wish you all here on XDA a nice weekend!
(written at currently 34 degrees Celsius... I am a human and not a damn bread dough that has to go in the fu..ing hot oven..)

    Yeah! ;)
Yes, I orignally made the plunge about a week ago from stock S7 ROM to LineageOS 20 (because like you said, the more up-to-date the better). I also didn't like not being able to use my SD card the way I'd like, but more importantly the battery life was horrible for some reason. I downgraded to LineageOS 19.1 the next day and I couldn't be happier with how 19.1 is performing. 1000000 thank yous to Ivan for maintaining this ROM!

I recognized that the notification LED is not working on my phone.
Is that something that's not working in this ROM in general or do I have to start searching which app is causing this issue....I can't remember if it was working before I started installing different apps.
i have the same issue. some apps are using the notification led and some apps do not.
does anybody has a solution or idea what can i do?

It afects in LOS 16, 17, 18, 19 but not in LOS 14.1
    1
Well... the battery drain is a problem, what *Gapps might cause... if you have installed some *Gapps, because you want to use Google Systems Framework (GSF), then it can be, that your battery gets low quickly. With LOS 20, but also with 19.

I dont use GSF, because I do not have installed any *Gapps... this is really not necessary for using the smartphone properly...
I do use Google apps, and the battery drain is severe with LOS 20, much more quickly than with 19.1. With LOS 19.1 the battery usage is equivelent (if not better than) stock S7 firmware

    Not Working
    -

If you want to use Magisk use latest Magisk Beta (25.0) or Magisk 24.1, there is bug in 24.3 that was fixed after its release that prevents zygisk from working on some devices with 3.18 kernel

here it is August security update
Nothing major in this one as i am still working behind the scenes on that huge update i talked about previously which involves rewrite of almost whole graphics and media stack (its almost finished but i still have to do a bit more testing just to make sure there is no regression)

In other news android 13 should be released next month and since there were no major changes s7 should be running it soon after release with not too many issues and ill try to take a few days off from work to get it up and running on it once source is out

Once again huge thanks to everyone who supported this project, helped cover build server cost and got me coffee with donations.
This project wouldnt be alive without them as i do this in my free time as a hobby.

Enjoy new builds and stay safe

Im aware of Seedvault issue curently present and im working on a fix for it.
I wanted to release something as a gift from me to everyone using this rom and supporting this project throughout the years. Keeping older phones alive and up to date is really fun hobby and I don't think I would've kept doing it if it wasnt for all of the support from the comunity.

Once again big thanks to everyone who helped cover the build serve cost and coffee.

Enjoy new build and stay safe

Thanks to this s7 should live for few more android releases without any major issues. and Android 12 will get even better with new hals that are curently in developement

There will be updates to 18.1 and 17.1 in a few days once july security updates have been ported to them
