Disable HW overlays you can reach by developer option menu (setting - system - developer options)
dunno. it just happens
I looked into this with the aid of my friend Google and it appears to be something (a bug?) that Samsung introduced with Android 8 or 9 updates a long time ago on the S8.Persisting in this latest release, long press home button area will wake the phone - despite being switched off in settings. (S8 G950F)
It's not a bug, it's the 3D touch function that came first with S8.I looked into this with the aid of my friend Google and it appears to be something (a bug?) that Samsung introduced with Android 8 or 9 updates a long time ago on the S8.
Please can someone confirm that this original Samsung bug has not been fixed and I am wasting my time looking for a solution ?
So is HWC fixed? And thanks again for all your hard work! Been rockin this since the initial releaseJuly security update builds are up, here is a brief changelog
- Reverted some changes that caused previous ui performance regression
- Merged July 2022. Security update
- Synced with LineageOS source
There will be a lot mor e changes in near future as ill have my hands on working exynos 8895 device so testing will be way easier
There will also be 18.1 update next week with some backports of fixes from 19.1 and july security update
As always huge thanks to everyone who supported this project so far as it wouldnt be possible to keep it up without them
and keep s8/note8 alive and up to date, Donations help cover the build server cost and get me coffee which gets useful while figuring stuff out related to platform
Enjoy new builds and stay safe
By revert, do you mean that the HWC HAL is disabled for now? If that's the case, that's too bad, but I'm glad you were able to get yourself a working device. Again, thanks so much for your work, it really means a lot.July security update builds are up, here is a brief changelog

I see what you mean now, especially in light of the new build.. it's just having been using Samsung's stock ROM for years now, Ivan's build even with the slight lag still felt smoothScreen grab doesn't seem to notice this behaviorI tried recording from a different device although the camera can't seem to view it like my eyes do
first part is with HWC on and next I disable it. You can tell UI is smoother with HWC disabled.
Used easy DPI changer from app store. Actually only changed the resolution, which stopped phone from overheating in WhatsApp calls..I was trying to do a video screen capture earlier, but it causes so much overhead that there is no noticeable difference on video.
What I could do was set HWUI rendering to display on screen and compare results with HW overlays enabled and then disabled. That, at least, I could screen capture, as attached.
Also, how did you accomplish to dowscale DPI?
Edit: I just noticed my screenshots show that Battery Saver is on, but the results are the same when it's turned off or charging.
It is getting very hot without hwc in normal use, is there any hope for hwc back in near future builds?July security update builds are up, here is a brief changelog

glad to keep 8 series alive, and well next few updates will be more exciting
Good day,Morning all,
I am coming from the PixelExperience ROM, because it does not meet some of my basic requirements:
- SafetyNet passed, by default (without using Magisk)
- Battery draining too fast
- Heating issue in some occasion
I would like your feedback / comment, on any of these points, please?
Cheers
No, I have Revolut installed and working. It showed up just fine in the Play Store for me. No apps have complained about anything actually. I installed it via TWRP along with the GApps package from the OP. Other than missing a few options from the stock ROM (like screen resolution and flashlight brightness), I've had zero problems. The phone is also way snappier than it was with the stock ROM. Firefox in particular ran like a two-legged dog before I switched. It's still not quite as buttery smooth as it is on my Poco F3, but it's not far off now. As for the camera, I chose to install IDan's GCam build. Works like a charm.Anyone else having issues with not finding certain apps in play store / getting error with not compatible? Like revolut
Also, am I missing some settings, as the camera is capped to 1080p and many options missing, like format, codec(hevc) jpeg quality etc
