I don't have the latest update on my Note8 and NFC working normally.
I use it to connect my watch or a speaker but with an app to read and write NFC tag it seems to not working. My phone don't play the sound as it does and he don't recognize a badge card.

I didn't see anyone reporting this as not working. WiFi Calling (well for CSC: XSA... well actually 'Boost Mobile' a TEL reseller, aka VMNO) is not working in this ROM. WiFi-Calling (calling only, TEL did not agree to WiFi-SMS with this VMNO), thus just WiFi-Calling works fine in stock S8 ROM. The WiFi calling options don't appear in Lineage 19.1 (in SIM/Internet) settings sections.

I'm rolling back to stock as live remote where there is zero mobile coverage & WiFi Calling is my life-line.

Thank you Ivan for you efforts, I'll keep watching this thread for updates and test them out as they come. If you need any technical details regarding the carrier, etc... feel free to reach out via DM.

Working:
- Wifi
...

Not Working
- WiFi Calling (CSC: XSA)

the same problem, tried to read cards, transport cards, recieving android beam: no reaction with cards, when trying to recieve android beam, it has some reaction - write "no tag"
did you try nfc pay? i havent tried, thought its not working

not tried yet because I just have a crypto card on gpay and I keep my coins
also I can't add my "normal" bank card because my bank isn't compatible

so I don't know for the nfc pay...

What do you mean by couldn't install? You are the only one complaining about gapps not installing. Can you tell us what you did exactly?
I am having same problem installing Gapps on my Essential PH-1. Here is what I did.
I used LinageOS 19.1 nightly and Linage recovery image
I rebooted into recovery image and formated/wiped the disk
I installed LinageOS 91.1 nightly
I installed Gapp
rebooted and there were no Google apps and the camera said it needed "Google Play Services"

I tried MindTheGapps 12.1.0
open_gapps 11.0 stock
NikGaps 12.1

All gave same results on Google apps and camera error

@Ivan_Meler please advise whether and how gapps can be reinstalled to support Andorid auto, which gapps should be used? Thank you for support.

Is there any way to install apps onto external sd card? If yes, guidelines would be appreciated.

I also have this option, but the plus is missing to add a VPN
I've never seen a "plus" option there, I don't think LineageOS supports the "functionality" that you seem to need.

But I can help with offering working alternatives to that native unsupported behavior.

Search VPN on f-droid.org

I don't know what type of VPN you'd need, but the most common ones are openvpn and wireguard.
The openvpn official app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.openvpn.openvpn
The better openvpn semi-official app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.blinkt.openvpn

Both are open-source.

thanks, i'll take a look at those. The plus is for adding a VPN connection. This feature was still there in LOS 18, as it is in every other OS.

@Ivan_Meler why is /storage/self bind mounted to /sdcard? My sd card appears in /storage/xxx-xxxx but apps with internal file picker cannot access files in /storage/.
thats intended behavior since android 11 thanks to scoped storeage, apps shouldn't be able access whole storage except ones that explicity require it for functionality like file managers and instead need to request folder they need to access

Thank you very much for this rom Ivan. The battery life on my S8 G950F is astonishing really. I was previously using an /e/ rom with ~3 days of battery life if left idle. With this rom my battery only drains 10-15% per day if my phone isn't used much, giving me around 6 days before really needing to charge my phone. This is great for someone like me who doesn't use it much. Cheers!

Anyone else having issues with not finding certain apps in play store / getting error with not compatible? Like revolut
Also, am I missing some settings, as the camera is capped to 1080p and many options missing, like format, codec(hevc) jpeg quality etc

No, I have Revolut installed and working. It showed up just fine in the Play Store for me. No apps have complained about anything actually. I installed it via TWRP along with the GApps package from the OP. Other than missing a few options from the stock ROM (like screen resolution and flashlight brightness), I've had zero problems. The phone is also way snappier than it was with the stock ROM. Firefox in particular ran like a two-legged dog before I switched. It's still not quite as buttery smooth as it is on my Poco F3, but it's not far off now. As for the camera, I chose to install IDan's GCam build. Works like a charm.

Thanks to Ivan for the hard work.

I don't know if it's just my phone dying, or I just have plain bad luck.. I can see în the thread that everybody is loving this rom.. But I can't even run 2 apa without them being force closed cuz it's out of ram.. I open chrome, try to type something.. And the keyboard gets killed in 2 seconds. Everything lags, camera crashes, UI freezes, Spotify gets killed every 4 minutes even in foreground, and 0 chances of watching anything in YouTube. tap on the app, 2 seconds dead
The rom seems awesome. But I guess my S8 is finally done. Anyone got any ideas of what I could try?

I did a full wipe, clean install, no kernel modifications, installed the gapps in the guide...
I'm on firmwareDUK1

Is there some kind of.. Magic ingredient to the magic soup I'm missing? I'm desperate here, brothers

maybe you can try to restore to original pie rom of the phone and then install this rom again. did you use any custom roms before installing this one?

    Awesome work!
Really appreciate the effort you put into this.

On another note, I noticed that the USB-C port doesn't work for anything other than charging.
I can connect a mouse, keyboard or flash-drive, but it isn't recognized by the system, and doesn't seem to work. (Worked fine on stock ROM)
Has anyone come across this issue as well?
I just tested usb mouse and few other accessories with samsungs original oth adapyer and it seems to work fine, friend of mine also tested native usb c ethernet adapter and that worked fine too

Hmm, I just tested both a USB drive and a USB mouse again and neither worked (on today's build).
    Using samsung's adapter as well.
I verified that the adapter is working correctly. (Both mouse & drive work on another usb-c phone)

Phone fast charges normally and I haven't had problems with the port.
    USB tethering also works fine.

On the weekend, I can make a TWRP backup and re-flash the stock ROM to test it there too and see if it's a hardware issue or ROM-specific.

Thanks for testing it so quickly

EDIT: Phone is an S8+ (G955F)

Will there be no more updates anymore on this rom?

    Here are some progress update
Here is android 13 working with new kernel that has BPF backport which took me days to properly backport, but it will help us get better overall experience in both 12 and 13 and future android versions
I just have to resolve some wifi issues and after those are done builds will be uploaded

Huge thanks to everyone who supported this project, helped cover the build server cost and got me coffee/pizzaa for time spent working on this.

See you soon with Android 13 on S8/Note8 that are 5 years old this year
    Screenshot_20220827-123355_Settings.png

As prommised here it is Android 12, Big thanks to everyone who supported project with donations that helped cover the build server cost and get me coffee
If you want to turn off auto live display (Yellow tint) type "Live" in settings search and go to LiveDisplay
    30
here it is August security update

Nothing major in this one as i am still working behind the scenes on that huge update i talked about previously which involves rewrite of almost whole graphics and media stack (its almost finished but i still have to do a bit more testing just to make sure there is no regression)
(Im still waiting for a properly working s8/n8 listing to show up on ebay thats not overpriced so i can use it for testing as my s8 has messed up display and unfortunately import from UK turned out to be more expensive than s8 would be worth)

In other news android 13 should be released next month and since there were no major changes s8 and note8 should be running it soon after release with not too many issues and ill try to take a few days off from work to get it up and running on it once source is out

Once again huge thanks to everyone who supported this project, helped cover build server cost and got me coffee with donations.

This project wouldnt be alive without them as i do this in my free time as a hobby.

I havent posted an actual progress update in quite some time so here is some behind the scenes.
    • First of all selinux, that is actually being worked on and it should be supported in near future (Tho it needs some testing to make sure things dont break)
    • Kernel upstream and full eBPF support, thats on its way too so we wont need any hacks to make bpf work anymore which is a nice bonus + we will be able to use some nice new features like gpu monitoring which requires eBPF
    • HWC This is a big one, without revealing too much there is big progress on this behind the scenes and while it does require quite a bit of work once this is sorted we will have much better battery life and UI will be waaay smoother (2x increase at least), this and few other hals will be open sourced too once this is nearly finished so no more proprietary blobs for it
    • Keystore will also be looked into a bit further to see if there are edge cases left where some secure apps break
    • OMX again without going into too much details we will see some changes on that end and it will be open sourced
    • Camera, well ill just let this one be a surprise for now since it will require most work
There is a lot more going behind the scenes and some of those changes will take some time (Keep in mind i do this in my free time so i really cant talk about etas) but in general once most of those chanegs are up 8895 devices will be in perfect condition and once android 13 source is out it wont take too long to get it working.

Some other small notes since s8 i use to develop this rom on has broken screen (i use scrcpy to mirror screen on pc) im actually still looking into getting 8895 device, Someone offered to send one from UK but since im in EU ill have to look into import tax and stuff caused by brexit which is not fun to deal with.

And finally HUGE thanks to everyone who supported this project and helped cover the build server cost, thius project really wouldnt be possible without them, They also covered the coffee cost and some stuff like recent keystore fixes really took a long time to debug which indeed required a lot of coffee at night haha.
