Thanks for replying. The 1st post says to use 4.19 though?

- Use latest 4.19 TWRP created by pix106:

I flash this file but in twrp it says my version is 3.7.0_9-6. So I am wondering if it is failing to flash?
Yes, the version is 3.7.0_9-6.
Only the kernel version changed to 4.19 instead of 4.4, matching the kernel version of new roms for data decryption.

So how the permission for "Mobile data and wifi" of Play Store not enabled by default. You need to enable it manually. I remembered one or two more apps have the same issue.

Has anyone changed the battery on either the 8 inch model or the Plus? I'm thinking of buying one from AliExpress as a back up for the sad day when my current battery is dead. Currently battery health is 69℅ - how good or bad is that?
I changed the battery on a Plus, as well as its USB port.
The hardest parts are prying open the metal case and the strong glue holding the battery.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you use double sided tape to secure the new battery as I've seen that mostly recommended?

I will order one from AliExpress as it is cheap and comes with a tool kit and when my battery is no longer usable I'll then change it as I'll have lost nothing if I make a mess of it.

Yes i know. But the tag 4.19 simply means that the twrp version 3.7.0 they want us to use is based on @pix106's 4.19 kernel. And the latest version of that modded twrp is 12. Hence Twrp 3.7.0_12. The previous version was Twrp 3.7.0-9-6. You get the idea. 😊

My builds are those with _9 in their name, as I build using twrp 9 branch, and i did not release builds based on TWRP 12 branch, as decryption fails

So the _12 build you're referring to is totally unrelated with my _9 builds

Thanks for your new ROM! I feel new kernel is more stable and makes lower jitter in audio output quality for USB DAC's and a 3.5mm jack (sounding very tight base drums)

But USB memories and DACs are unusable after rebooting without power off the same as previous ones. However they can be used after rebooting with power off.

Dirty flashed the Feb update. USB DAC finally workin! Yey! Thank you!

EDIT:

minor complaint abiut whrn I was still in the January version (I hope I wont enciunter/experience it on this latest build):

Most of the tmes, upon powering on the tablet, it gets sluggish and freezes when I launch an app or a game and it takes a few reboots to sort things out. The worst knd of freeze is when you are stuck on a black screen and the only way out is a force reboot. Idk what's wrong. Ram management? Full internal storage would be i possible since i have a 256GB microsd on this thing and i usually put heavy files on there.

Mine is the same. USB drives and my USB DACs. Turn it off and then on and they work. A simple reboot is not enough.
Thanks to @zyhk for working that out. I do not reboot often but it is handy to know that I should power off and on to avoid this issue.

I had a few issues over time with the January build, like the microphone stopped working. I did a factory reset and no restore and just installed a few apps. The microphone came back. Then I dirty flashed the latest build and all is good. I probably should have just done a clean install of February to get the same result.

Just for info. February version
Playstore verified
Root is hidden
Bluetooth headphone work as expected and aptX HD works
Netflix is installable
Microphone works
Camera works
USB DACs work
USB external drives work - with the caveat from above - power down and power on and avoid reboot

My Google One VPN will not start and has not for the last couple of builds.

Just had something weird happen today. I turned on my tablet for the day, then it starts lagging like ****..so my usual procedure was to do the emergency reboot which works most of the time. But today it didnt and instead threw me back to TWRP loads of errors. I didnt even flash or do anything.

Latest rom 0322-v1 build with changelog:
    - update gps HAL to LA.UM.11.2.1.r1-03100-sdm660.0
    - update camera HAL to LA.UM.11.2.1.r1-03100-sdm660.0

I have dirty flashed lineage-20.0-20230322-UNOFFICIAL and now the V1 updated. Working fine so far.

My tablet has a new life as a music server. I have it connected to an external SMSL SU9 DAC and I have USB Audio Player Pro installed (a paid app). USB Audio Player is a wrapper around my Qobuz streaming account which bypasses all Android audio processing and sends the digital stream directly to the USB attached DAC. It works beautifully and you can watch the display on the DAC change as the playing tracks have different sampling rates. HiRes 24 bit FLAC files with rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz. So my MiPad 4 8" LTE device with this ROM is able to drive it all effortlessly. I have not run it long enough to see what happens to battery life, but for this use it does not really matter.

EDIT: This setup will work with a $10 USB-C to headphone jack adaptor that has an inbuilt DAC. You do not get any displays but the principle is the same. One like this Kinsound works fine. I have tried it. 32 bit up to 384 kHz.

Glad to see usb audio finally works. Back then it wouldnt. I am using tempotec sonat hd pro and uapp doesnt detect it. I have temporarily switched to kyasu's lineage20 build because my tab lagged a lot. Ifk if it's just the january build having issues in general.
