I've done this Bootloader unlock procedure on over 50 phones. So far only one device (Moto Z2 Play) or second generation Moto Z that could not do the procedure. May be Booloader corrupted and may resolve with BlankFlash
Never tried that before. Searching online says its an unbrick process. Other than the bootloader unlock issue, phone is working flawless. Device responds to adb and fastboot devices commands and can reboot with commands. But every time I attempt it says slot-counttas not found, slot-suffixes not found etc.,
My device is RETCA with September 1st patch (PPWS29.131-27-1-13). Can I install Magisk on it?

After I unlocked the bootloader, I installed the firmware PPWS29.131-27-1-7. After that, I installed Magisk Manager and patched the boot image. I rebooted into fastboot mode and flashed the patched image to boot partition.
Now I have the firmware PPWS29.131-27-1-13 with Magisk installed.

Hi guys, stupid question. How can I tell when looking at used devices if it's an Amazon Exclusive Z3 Play VS a regular Z3 play? Were there certain colors that are Amazon only?
That's very weird. Are you certain it's a Z3 play? if yes then I'm afraid your unit is deeply defective. Go to the software about section inside the current OS and take a screenshot post it here
Perhaps the ATT variant doesn't support FB commands...? They react correctly on the Unlocked and Sprint model.
This IS an unlocked phone bought from best buy. It was however activated with AT&T at store but we can switch to any carrier any time
Got the phone unlocked no problem, was able to fastboot boot twrp.img since the instructions said if you just wanted root to just boot the image and install magisk from there, but it's just stuck on the teamwin loading screen and won't go any further. Anyone got any ideas?
happened with me too, I think the version 3.3.1-1 is bugged and defective, use the version 3.3.1-0.
