I installed Magisk with boot image patching using the retus zip available on lolinet that matched my build number. Everything was going swimmingly, except now I'm getting pop-up notifications that a software update failed.

I tried the magisk uninstall process to stock-ify my boot image, but the install still fails. All I can think of is that I modified my hosts file in /etc. Is /etc part of the system partition?

Update manually using Fastboot. Just do not flash userdata and it will be an update. Remember that You need to flash MAGISK-patched kernel to have root. It can be made using boot image and device with working MAGISK Manager.
And yes. /ETC is part of the system partition. Why not mod hosts with MAGISK?

I didn't know I could mod hosts with magisk; all my know-how is from back in the SuperSu days.

Where does the phone store the downloaded update? I don't think this OTA is available on lolinet yet, but can I pull the downloaded file off my phone then flash with fastboot?

Thanks for that speedy reply btw.

This one is not so speedy ;(
All I can say is that I dunno where it is stored, probably nowhere where we could take it and sure it's not an image.

As for hosts than there are mods with hosts changed. And creating so small mod is really easy.

I have successfully rooted using boot img patching, but I still get the bootloader unlocked warning message and verity mode disabled when starting the phone. Does this not go away?

Como Recuperar meu moto z 3 play - How to recover my moto z 3 play

Another mirror for the latest ROM with May 1st patches, uploaded by me you can find here:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79122632&postcount=45
I have successfully rooted using boot img patching, but I still get the bootloader unlocked warning message and verity mode disabled when starting the phone. Does this not go away?

Good afternoon people.

I recently performed a Dowgrade on an XT1929-5 to try to recover the functionality of SIM 1, which stopped working after an update and I was unfortunate enough to lose the connectivity of the two SIM cards and the MAC address of the wifi.

The device has lost all connection addresses except for Bluetooth.

I've run the most current stock rom BECKHAM_RETAIL_9.0_PPWS29.131-27-1-15_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml but still nothing.

Has anyone had a similar problem? how do you suggest you manage to solve it?

thank you in advance.

twrp 3.3.1-1 does not start - looking for installer-zip of 3.3.1-0-beckham

Hi there,

twrp 3.3.1-1-beckham gets stuck in its splash screen and moto z3 play freezes. neither boot from img nor install from zip via boot from 3.3.1-0 image works.

twrp 3.3.1-0-beckham does work but unfortunately there is no installer zip available (only the new version 3.3.1-1-beckham)

Is there any zip-file for the previous 3.3.1-0-beckham twrp available? Otherwise it is not possible to install custom rom + gapps via fastboot boot twrp.img because the gapps version check fails.

Thanks for your advice!

Sounds like you've lost your efs. If you made a backup with twrp, try restoring just that. If not, try installing lineage or RR, just to get that partition. Then back it up and restore it ontop of stock.

Luckily i as able to recover this by flashing the stock boot image but that also gave me a "not found" message....but this time it asked me to reset the phone because it couldnt boot. Resetting the phone brought it back to life.

I know im missing something silly. I just dont flash enough to figure out what it is.

Sending 'boot_a' (24181 KB) OKAY [ 0.562s]

Even though I had an error of some sort, I didn't have an issue like yours....magisk was installed and operable, but the the system itself was buggy afterwords. I couldn't update to new factory build, and my camera app was giving me grief, being slow and unresponsive. I went a different route afterwords, flashed unofficial lineage 16, so far with no major complaints and better battery life...best

Anyone have any ideas? Im going into the hospital soon and it would be nice to have a new rooted phone to fiddle with before i go in.

So far ive:
- re-downloaded the stock, latest, firmware from LMSA (BECKHAM_PPWS29.183_29_1_12_subsidy_DEFAULT_regulatory_DEFAULT_CFC.xml).
- I checked to make sure its the same that's on my phone as i know that could cause issues (PPWS29.183-29-1-12)
- Im using the latest Magisk Manager (MagiskManager-v7.5.1) to patch the boot.img file
- I have the latest adb and moto drivers
- twrp (3.3.1-0) and flashboot work fine

When i flash i got a not found message but also gets OKs? Is that normal?

C:\adb>fastboot flash boot boot.img
(bootloader) is-logical:boot_a: not found
Sending 'boot_a' (24181 KB) OKAY [ 0.577s]
Writing 'boot_a' OKAY [ 0.702s]
Finished. Total time: 1.295s

Then the phone hangs at start on the "powered by Motorola" screen. How long does it take for the first boot after flashing the patched boot.img? If its a long time maybe im not waiting long enough? Doubt it but its possible.

Really hope someone can help me out here.

I "rescued" the phone with LMSA and reflashed the firmware in LMSA, then went through the Magisk install again and that worked...no idea wth the issue was.

unlockbootloder z3 play xt1929-6

Firmwares
the latest firmware as of time of writing is February's 2020 OTA (BECKHAM_RETAIL_9.0_PPWS29.131-27-1-18_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC) = https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...ubsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
previous OTAs RETAIL variant can be found here = https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/beckham/official/RETAIL/
future OTAs possibly here = https://androidfilehost.com/?w=search&s=beckham
other variants = https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/beckham/official/

Unlock Bootloader
first you need to install Motorola Drivers = https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/MS88481
- ATTENTION - use the most up-to-date ADB Drivers otherwise will brick if older version is used; instead of downloading ADB elsewhere which is often old version, get it directly from GOOGLE, here = https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
now you can proceed to unlock bootloader = https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a

TWRP
get the official TWRP here = https://dl.twrp.me/beckham/
- ATTENTION - if you just want root access, then there's no need to install TWRP, just boot from the .img once using the latest version
use TWRP to make a backup of EFS partition before installing anything, store the backup files outside of the device
if you want custom ROMs or GSI, then you will need to install TWRP installer .zip into the recovery partition. To install the .zip, boot using a .img for example the 3.3.1-0, then use it to install the latest .zip version in the recovery partition. Unfortunately the only official installable version of TWRP that exists is bugged, and the TWRP developers haven't fixed it yet, go talk to them ask for some love, be respectful = https://github.com/TeamWin/android_device_motorola_beckham/issues

Magisk
install Magisk using the new&correct method AKA "Boot Image Patching Method" to be able to install OTA later = https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#boot-image-patching
when OTA arrives, you may manually install it whilst retaining Magisk by carefully following these instructions = https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/tutorials.html#ota-installation
- ATTENTION - you won't be able to install stock OTAs if you use older method or if system partition is modified, be really careful to not alter the hash of the partitions
hi friend
I have the z3 play xt1929-6( software channel OPENMX) device does not unlock the bootloader I have allowed to unlock in the developer, I execute the command on the command prompt window
> fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) Failed to get unlock data.
OKAY [0.019s]
Finished. Total time: 0.022s
Please let me know my device is having a problem and how to unlock the bootloader, thanks
