hi friend
I have the z3 play xt1929-6( software channel OPENMX) device does not unlock the bootloader I have allowed to unlock in the developer, I execute the command on the command prompt window
> fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) Failed to get unlock data.
OKAY [0.019s]
Finished. Total time: 0.022s
Please let me know my device is having a problem and how to unlock the bootloader, thanks
Could be faulty fastboot driver. Did you use the latest version from Google platform tools? Try a different computer also and don't forget to install the drivers from Motorola also. Try a different cable too. Files inside the bootloader could be corrupted, to fix it try to reflash the newest firmware version of your variant, if you're already using the newest version reflash the firmware again. If the problem persists your variant could be using different commands or even be carrier locked or region locked, double check that.

Hidden commands can be found here but it's the last possible move. Try talking to other people who have the same variant, it could be a variant specific commands not documented. Good luck

thank you for sharing
I have updated to the latest version, follow as you mentioned but the result still cannot unlock the bootloader.
xt1929-6 cannot be automatically updated via ota
Maybe my boot loader is faulty?

No I have not tried it. I'm asking if it can be done or has it been done. I have a friend who has the phone and I was going to help him root it if it can be done. So that's why I'm asking.

Okay, so I made sure adb & drivers were up and working, unlocked bootloader, downloaded TWRP (3.3.1-0, because 3.3.1-1 was hanging at the splash screen), downloaded and extracted the matching F/W, backed up every partition to my PC, etc etc, set the fastboot slot to a, then started flashing partitions with fastboot.

Gpt.bin and bootloader.img completed fine, but fastboot reports that there is no "bluetooth" partition:

"C:\adb\platform-tools>fastboot flash bluetooth BTFM.bin
(bootloader) is-logical:bluetooth__a: not found
Sending 'bluetooth__a' (4564 KB) OKAY [ 0.159s]
Writing 'bluetooth__a' (bootloader) Invalid partitio
n name bluetooth__a
FAILED (remote: '')
fastboot: error: Command failed"

Any ideas?

Yeah mines failing. I think im going to have to wipe this phone. Friggin thing crashes constantly since i rooted it.
Mine failed too, so did the last patch..
Last time i could plug into LMSA, and it updated without wiping the device. This time LMSA, didn't find the update.
I don't feel like it right now, so I disabled update service, and am waiting for A10, or the next update.

If anybody has a thought on how to proceed with this, or an alternate root scheme, I'd appreciate a heads-up. Don't care about the ability to take updates, but I've got to have root on my DD.

Thanks!

For RETCA, the update is available with LMSA but not via OTA

EDIT : I manually installed -22 update on my phone and Magisk as well

im going to do this as well....my phone runs like complete garbage. The phone constantly locks up or is slow to respond, camera never opens reliably, etc. Ive been using my Z2 the last few months because the Z3 ran so bad. Time to dust off the z3 now that i have time to mess with it again. Do you still use Lineage or have you moved onto a new phone?

Does anyone else's Z3 run like complete trash or we the only ones?

Even though I had an error of some sort, I didn't have an issue like yours....magisk was installed and operable, but the the system itself was buggy afterwords. I couldn't update to new factory build, and my camera app was giving me grief, being slow and unresponsive. I went a different route afterwords, flashed unofficial lineage 16, so far with no major complaints and better battery life...best
