Linux and bluetooth PAN tether no workie

I don't know if this is a Linux issue or my phone. I have the latest 9.16.6 xt926 latest OTA. Its not rooted so I'm having to wait to unlock WiFi tethering. I tried Bluetooth tethering, paired it to my laptop running Linux Mint 14 but BT tether fails. Anyone have this working on a non rooted phone?

Ok, figured it out. I switched from a Rosewill BT USB dongle to a Cambridge Silicon Radio BT dongle and the first time it didnt work..I selected the wrong ap. Once I selected vzwinternet, voila! Bluetooth DUN works! Speed wise, not that fast.. 2M up, .68 down. That will get me going while I wait for a root hack for the latest OTA.
