Just wanted to take a quick poll, of those of you that use Linux, what distro and/or flavor are you on?
I'll start:
Ubuntu 12.10 > Normal/Default Ubuntu, Debian

Yeah I'm dual booting too, but in my case I have to stick with Windows because I'm not the only user...I'm stuck with dual booting Windows 7 (my wife did it, don't ask me how) and if I could figure it out... I've been wanting to switch to Linux. I hate Windows.
No I'm stuck dual booting two versions of Win7Yeah I'm dual booting too, but in my case I have to stick with Windows because I'm not the only user...

Whats mint like? Does it use Gnome as its desktop manager?I run Linux Mint 14 now, coming from peppermint 3. Next I'll try lubuntu. I like the light distros.

To be honest I only installed it and adb, I haven't even got to mess with it. The newish android-tools-adb from software manager are slick it made Desktop my adb location so anything on my direct dektop is controllable with adb ( I think only tested adb devices ). Although I still have the actual sdk, I just wanted to try the software manager one.Whats mint like? Does it use Gnome as its file manager?
But I've heard that that ones pretty popular too so it must be nice lol

What distros have you tried? I mean if you absolutely have to, you could always go with Wubi and install ubuntu inside your Windows OSI can never get linux to install. I've tried many times and always hangs on a black screen that shows what's connected to the usb portsI hate Windows 7/8 they suck

Yeah I know what you mean, I don't like all that integration either.I use Ubuntu and have had it on a separate partition for probably 8ish years now(since second year of college). I sometimes bounce to another distro to try for a while, but always come back to Ubuntu because I am used to it.
I am really thinking about looking for another debian based distro(or ubuntu with a different desktop mananger) though because I kind of loath portions of Unity and the amazon integration. I don't mind having the side bar with app icons pinned to it, thats how I keep my win7 desktop setup. I absolutely hate just about everything else though.
For those that are comfortable with windows you may want to check out Zorin OS, its a ubuntu based distro that emulates the windows desktop manager.
Will have to look into that. ThanksMight be your graphics card. Check out "nomodeset" in some of the Linux forums

I tried ubuntu, mint, red hat and a couple of others. I did try wubi to install in windows but when I tried to use it after installing my screen goes black with green lines. Maybe it is my graphics card. Ill have to look more into it when I get my computer fixedWhat distros have you tried? I mean if you absolutely have to, you could always go with Wubi and install ubuntu inside your Windows OS
I had some problems with that though, so I just fresh installed Windows, shrank its hard drive space and installed Ubuntu on the other partition
