[LIST] [5/23/14] Old apps for Nook Simple Touch

We all know the Simple Touch is running an ancient version of Android, and there's tons of popular apps that don't work. But there's actually a large amount of apps that do work with the NST, just older versions. I decided to make a small repository for older versions of apps that work with the NST (and other Android 2.1 devices as well).​

¹ Cannot view books manually uploaded to Play Books, there is a newer version that can but has major issues on the NST

These are just the first few apps, I'm going to be uploading many more as time goes on. Please feel free to leave a suggestion, and I'll do my best to find a version that works under Android 2.1 and the NST

This is a great idea and should be sticky'd.

Some apps still install fine from Play Store, for others certain old ones with version numbers I have working can mostly be found with a little googling:

Thank you so much for posting all these apps - glad to find so much stuff that is working on my freshly rooted NST.

One question: The Kindle app can't seem to find my personal documents, and apparently that's an issue with Google Books, too. Does anyone know, how to get the Android-2.1.-kindle to recoginize my documents?

Or: Does anyone know of another e-reader that does the whole syncing of the last page read like Kindle and Google books?

I love being able to read on my phone and my e-reader without constantly having to find my place in the book after switching between the two? Is there any solution you could suggest?

(apologies if this has been solved elsewhere - my search did not turn up anything)

The Olive Tree Bible+ app version 5.3 works, but the latest from the play store crashes.

This caused me great frustration, but I finally found a working version! FYI this app works with the hardware forward/back buttons without modification. Link pop-ups work great.

That's odd, it works fine on my normal Nook Simple Touch. To adjust the text size, you will have to map a button (if only temporarily) to be used as the menu button using the Nook Touch Mod Manager app. Then pressing the menu button while reading will bring up options.

Thanks for the menu mapping hint corbin, will look into that, have the Mod Manager app.

Edit: mapped top rh button to menu, able to change font size - many more thanks corbin


I am running kindle 3.2.0.35 on simple & glow. this may be the latest version that the nook will take?
