I looking for the best ROM based on 6.0 for HTC M8.
I found 13 ROMS.

The problem with my STOCK ROM is killing launcher after browsing Chrome.
I think too much RAM is used. It would be nice if somebody have tested some of them, and say which is the best currently to use.

Here are the links for all:

Have you tested any of it? It would be nice to collect such piece of information in one place.

Edit.
Reading 5 pages of topic so far, ranking:
1. Ice ROM
2. S ROM

(Strictly for battery, last page)
ResurectionRemix N -
" don't install play store nor google play services (battery eating monster).
Stock -
with most apps&bloat removed/disabled (including store and gp services)"

Edit.
For killing launcher problem, helped me on stock ROM uninstalling Battery Doctor which consumes lot of RAM. I migrated to Kaspersky battery life app.

You mean this 1st one? It was so good?
[ROM][Jun. 30] S.Team M8 | S4.1-32.0-X7.2.1 | Full HTC 10 | HTC 10 Dolby/HK/JBL

edit. Looks like this ROM is called S ROM when I read this thread...

Thank you for your responses. Topic remains open .
But so far I just installed Battery Doctor and I automatically kill unused apps by this, and it helped.
I can't only install Viper4Android without root, so probably I will finally change stock ROM.
Would be nice to get some quadrooter exploit as a method for rooting. Kingo root on PC fails.

I've used Viper One M8 as my go to ROM, it does *almost* anything I could want. The one thing it falls short on is that when I use V4A I lose Boom Sound, because they have so much custom software that what's available isn't meshing well. I can either use BS or V4A. Running HK on it has been impossible for me.
LeeDroid ran like a clock, but I was picky, and it lacked some customization that I missed in Viper One.
I have yet to get ARHD to run on my phone without losing the ability to use it as a phone.
Skydragon is another I could not get to boot, it loops, or sits at the boot screen.
CM13 kills those special little things the M8 can do that makes it "special", like the 3d effects of the Duo Camera, but is otherwise CM just like it is on everything so you know what to expect.
Tried Blues once, but it was long ago, and had random reboot issues (thought to be due to using f2fs), Plan to give it another shot soon.
Jazz (the sense equivelant to Blues) gave me the same thing as Blues (again thought to be due to f2fs), but overall ran well, felt like stock with less bloat (which I liked).
S-Team I haven't tried since it's early days, the animations are sped up, made me feel like I was being rushed, so I just moved on. No valuable opinion there. Didn't have any issues as I recall though.
ICE Repack was interesting, felt very similar to ViperOne M8, ran smoothly, but felt the same so my flashing addiction was left unfulfilled. No complaints about it though.

I think that's all I have from the list, and off the top of my head. It's a rather opinionated breakdown, but not so much as to be some pointless rant or anything. Just sharing what I know right now. If you can get ARHD running smoothly on a Verizon M8 and have all radios functional then please share. I would love to give this one a good run to see what the hype is about.

Thank you for exhaustive response!

If anybody still wants to describe their experience about smoothness, stability, sound quality, multitasking on some ROMs, you're welcome.

ICE #64, JW 5.4.0, GPE + SkyDragon v.1 kernel, Stock debloated with dex2oat optimizations and ElementalX repack kernel. That's some combos :)

Blues* GPE forever

I could never renounce the speed of pure stock GPE, the sound quality H / K and the beauty of the images taken with HTC Duo camera not to mention the slowmotion .....:p:p:p useless to try another.;):good:

I enjoy Android Revolution HD a lot. I had CM before but the dual camera didn't work and i wanted to try out the dot view thingy so i switched to ARHD and never looked back. A couple weeks ago i had a weird bug with it tho. I have a Pebble watch and the app suddenly couldn't find the watch anylonger. I had to do a factory reset to get it working again.

    Guys here is my experience.

I flashed ICE rom first. Its GUI was bad but performance was excellent. Got bored very quickly and annoyed by the wifi speed icon on top left.

I quickly then flash s.team JW 7.5.0 and i am loving it since. Its user friendly, much better looking compared to other roms and best performance. Its htc 10 sense 8 total port to m8. Dolby atmos works perfectly. I get SOT of 2-3 hours if you consider that my battery is totally finished and my phone turns off 20-35%. I have elemental x with this ROM. I am using nova launcher currently.

I would totally suggest you to flash this rom. Dont listen to other people saying flash ice, viper or something else because there performance might be great but they are roms not user friendly.

I have made my phone look like google pixel ui :D

I am going to replace my m8 battery soon and will tell you about the new sot which will be probably going to be b/w 4-6hours i.e. is great for a 2600mAh phone.

For the 2 years that I've got this nice phone I flashed the following ROMS on it:
Android Revolution HD: Android 4.4/5.x and 6.x. Don't know all the different versions but the last one I used is the 53.1
    ViperOneM8: V5.0.0/V5.0.2/V6.0.0/V6.1.0(current one)
    Skydragon: V4.0.0
CrDroid: Don't know the version, but I think it was android Lolipop that I used this one.

    CrDroid
First of, I just like the sense feeling, so I didn't stay long with CrDroid. Just to much difference I guess . Can't say much about it because of the limited time I used this one, but it was really fast.

    Android Revolution
The Android Revolution Roms by Mike are just awesome and rock stable. Never had any problems with any app that I use. Big ones like Snapchat, browsing, banking, notes... games and more ran just fine. The overall battery life of stock, non-flashed M8 device is good, and so is this Rom. With normal use (whatsapping, browsing, navigating (waze) I get through the day.
If you're looking for stable, this is the Rom that in my experience is the best one.

    ViperOnem8
But... I like to try different flavors, so I switched to Viper for a long time, with all the iterations in between. What I very much liked about this one is the quick custom settings you can use with the quick launch icons and the different styles that come with it.
The best version however is not in the 6 range, but V5.0.2. to be precise. The problems that I have in V6 and higher is that some apps crash mid use and that they close much faster i.e. respond slower when opening that same app again. Because i'm currently on V6.1.0 of the rom (yes, i know that 6.2.0 is scheduled in the near future), this one will be replaced.
So, as i'm writing this, my browser is downloading the latest ICE rom with the addition of the elements X kernel.

    Skydragon
I flashed, wiped, flashed, wiped again and even did a full RUU wipe, but so many of my apps crash some way or another. Even if I installed them from the play store and didn't restore the data from Titanium back-up.
In their defense, i must state that it wasn't the current one (v.4.0.0.) but 3.x. So in the latest version, chances are that this is fixed. I certainly don't blame the devs because it works for other people and they are happy about it :good: .

    ICE M8 with Elements X
    T.B.A.

I hope some of you find this helpful. For additional info, my routine for flashing is TWRP --> Full wipe --> install rom without bloatware --> install Xposed --> first time config --> restore apps from Titanium Back-up --> download redding theme from themes app (just because i FFing love the styles of his icon's and wallpaper)--> remove blinkfeed --> ???profit???

It could be that some roms won't work because of the TB restore, but that is one key aspect that has to work for me. If it doesn't, bye bye Rom.
    2
    It's good?

    For me the best.
Very fast and at the same time the best batterytime. I have trough the night in 7 hours without wifi 1% bsttery consumption.
No lag, only speed. Read some pages back in the kernel thread. There are some infos about this rom.
