Well.. I decided the rankings are not a good idea as there's no way to really check peoples ratings on each ROM and no way to see how many people have downloaded each one. So the rankings were just a bad idea in the first place.
I agree. Popularity without critical information is subjective at best. The only way to get even close is to look at the amount of positive vs. negative posts (good vs. problems) and keeping in mind that when there is less problems there are less posts and that when someone is happy or having no serious problems they more than likely will not post at all.

I wish there was a way so I for one could determine if my efforts were worth it or should we be focusing on something else. Even user polls don't come up with a good outomes.

Good point, I've noticed this a lot as well. A lot of really fantastic ROM's that have worked out all of its bugs and run flawless are getting buried by ROM's with a lot of buggy issues and it's developer(s) still working to fix them.

I'm sure a lot of people come on here, find a ROM they love, flash it, then since it works so well they just enjoy it and don't come back to post on the thread and eventually it starts to get buried by other threads.

Anyway, that's part of the reason why I put up this post so people don't have to wade through all the threads. With the number of ROM's the incredible has out, it is a bit of a mess.

Your efforts are always appreciated. The issue is, as you said, less people post when there are no big issues. I agree about the rankings being a bad idea. Maybe post alphabetically. LOL! :)

I am going to rename my ROM's to _1_Nils'............ ;):D

Maybe the best way is last release or something like that. Or simply here they are in no specific order. There is actually a few that are not even supported anymore. Difficult to list at best but I think it was a great idea to create this thread as a community service.

Might even be good to sticky it in the general and questions forums.

Release date may be a good route, but it'd be tough to stay on top of it.

There's definitely a few that are not supported anymore, but some people still use them and I'm sure a few people will still enjoy flashing them.

so what in your opinions are the fastest roms out currently? I just came over from MIUI (its been getting laggy over the last 3-4 releases, its just not where i want to be any more) I am looking for speed over everything. My expectations are very high when it comes to speed and feeling no log.

people have listed mangnolia or Re-Engineered... just wanted to see what you guys thought...

(my biggest pet peeve is i need a certain song as my alarm.. and i think i tried to load cyan and i couldnt choose an mp3 from my sd card... )
Have you tried just using a different launcher?
Launcher Pro is pretty quick and smooth as far as home screens go.
Also using "spare parts" from the Market, there's an option to speed up a lot of transitions even more.
Even yet another way to speed up your phone is by getting a good kernel to go with it.
For AOSP I suggest invisblek, and for Sense based I suggest chad's incredikenel (make sure you get the Sense version and not his AOSP version).

As far as quick ROM's all I can give you is my opinion :p
I've only tried a handful of the ROM's that are out so I can't give you a suggestion based on all the ROM's out there, but I've had good luck with Sky Raider 3.5 in terms of battery life and speed. If you've never tried that ROM out I suggest you give it a run.

It has all of its bugs worked out (at least none have been reported) so it should be a very stable ROM for you. I've never had any issues with it, so it's what I've been sticking with.

Do you think it would be helpful to reflect in the listing those "known issues" for the ROM's listed?

I think it's very important to know, for instance, that getting the camera to work properly in a Z-based ROM is not currently possible, or that MMS over wifi is an issue with at least two ROM's listed.

Equally important is knowing which ROM's have "no known issues."

Just sayin'.

A banned developer's work is prohibited. Stop trolling and move along. Thanks.
Not to start a issue or anything, but shouldn't "the new guy" be removed for this reason, seeing that it's the same dev as omfgb... and Warm is already up there? no reason to have a generic version up there.

just sayin....

I would like to say a huge thanks for this thread. Sorting thru multiple threads and hundreds upon thousands of posts can be very time consuming. This thread made it easy to see what roms are available at a glance. Again thank you.

With the number of current ROM's and no way to collapse details, it would be a mess to list them all per ROM. It is a good idea though, just thinking of a way that we could do it without cluttering it up and making it a pain to check across other ROM's, would also be a pain to keep it all up to date.
For now I think it's best for people just to check individual threads per ROM for further details such as issues and whatnot.

Didn't even notice, was wondering why it wasn't listed on XDA. Removed.

No problem, glad to know it helped you

He could list them by heading and sub heading. IE, Sense-based ROMs > Framework (Evo, Incredible, Desire Z, etc.)

From there, he could list common issues such as "MMS over wifi" for Evo framework. Also, just an FYI, the camera issues for Z-ROMs were fixed, to include 720P, about 2-3 weeks ago. All of the current Z-ROMs have either bundled it into their latest version, or offered a separate flash to correct it.
