Has anyone checked if the "Flixster Video" app (NOT the "Movies by Flixster" app) works?

Vudu has finally upgraded their Android App:

"
VUDU App Release Notes

10/8/2015
VUDU app for Android version 4.1.51
• Fixed crashing when holding tablets in portrait mode.
Also, if you had trouble with Chromecast, please try again!

10/8/2015
VUDU app for Android version 4.1.50

This sequel to the VUDU app is big. Like, Empire Strikes Back big. And it's even approved for one-handed use.
• Completely rebuilt and redesigned for a premium entertainment experience. We weren't kidding when we went up 3 versions.
• Faster, more responsive and more efficient. Choose two. Nah just kidding here. You get all three.
• New navigation menu, which you can find via the burger button. You can also filter and sort by date, genre, Tomatometer? is it just me or you hungry now?
• Auto-magic search suggestions to save you time. And find you some amazing gems. Did you know if you mis-type 'Hobbit' as 'Hobi', the first movie to come up is 'Hobo with a Shotgun'?? That movie is r-e-a-l.
• HD and HDX support (hallelujah!) for select newer, high end devices (Android Lollipop or higher required). So you not only want to upgrade your phone, you NEED to, right?
• Portrait mode for smartphones. We spent a lot of time creepily looking over the shoulders of people using smartphones to figure out how they hold and orient their phones, then used finger-tracking technology to heat-map accessible range of reach on various screen sizes and holding positions before presenting the case and design to the engineering team who then told us they already built it over weekend. Thanks guys.

***Got Dessert?***
You'll need to be on Android Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop or Marshmallow to upgrade.

***Got Downloads?***
We're also using a slick new video format, so if you had any movies and TV shows downloaded to previous versions of the VUDU app, you;ll need to re-download after upgrading. Sorry for the hassle, but we promise it's worth it!

Was hoping to find this info here... I'm gonna sideload it to my stick after work. Ill post my findings. Really hope it works so I don't have to get a Bluetooth keyboard.

web cam for fire tv

Hello All,

I am wondering has anyone successfully sideloaded Skype or any other voice/video chat software on Amazon FireTV and then connected a USB Camera with built in mic to start using the FireTV as a video/chat solution on the big screen. I am trying to see if this would be feasible. I would imagine the challenge would be around the drivers for the webcam (I am sure there are many smart people here) who can resolve that challenge. I would imagine such a solution would be another killer app for Amazon FireTV and would take another step towards a must have for any living room and taking the bite out of walled garden that Microsoft provides with xbox.

Thanks for the help.
APk usb web camera

Does not work for Fire TV 1 with rbox 5.2.4.1_r2 image .. VUDU installs and runs, However movie play only has volume and black screen (or still of the image where movie starts) trailers seem to work.
Also tried couple other versions ..
4.1.15.40985 - behaves similar to the one in dropbox here .. 4.1.13.38411
while
4.1.20.46605 gives a different error when starting a movie and does not play anything

Hoping FireTV 1 gets a version or some fix to make vudu work!

4.1.15.40985 worked for me on 5.2.4.1_r1 and when I upgraded to 5.2.4.1_r2. Also worked on 5.0.5 (gen1 box/stick). Troubles began for me with updates beyond that version.

Have you tried HDX movies? For me only trailers work which are in SD.
This is a gen1 box that was rooted when on OS3 (using towelroot I think) and then upgraded to OS5 5.0.5.x and then upgraded again to 5.2.4.1_r2. Other than sideloading this app, have you done anything else on the gen1 box? like gapps install?
Thanks

I think the vudu app is actually playing the movies in SD instead of HDX. Trailers, purchased movies, free movies, etc. Have xposed framework/modules and gapps installed on my 5.0.5, but I think it was a mix of the phone gapps with the android tv store. Still need to try, but the proper way (in theory) would be to use the TV gapps instead. I think parts of this thread mention how that could work:

I installed popcorntime last night. Works very well but needs mouse or touch input. I've been using droidmote for my firetv since I got root, so that worked for me.
Droidmote works well but you have to change between touch and the game control input of the app based on which screen on the firetv is active.

I'd just like to add that I got Tasker working on FireTV awhile ago but did not know about this list here (I posted it to a similar thread on reddit) there is a bit of a procedure you need to to go make it work:

Yes, the Tasker works on FireTV. I've just added it to the list at the top of this forum.
    What you have to do:
Get an apk of Tasker. Either get the free one from Google Play store, or get the one you paid for off your (rooted) Android device. Guides on how to do this are all over the place. Also you can directly purchase it from Tasker's website.
Use this: http://forums.crackberry.com/androi...ding-google-maps-google-play-services-914930/[1] to patch your apk of Tasker so that it doesn't need GMaps to run. This is crucial, because otherwise FireTV will reject it (as it doesnt have Google Maps API).
Sideload your modified apk to your FireTV
Issues: So far almost everything works like a charm. The one thing that you cannot do on the FireTV (besides root actionsnow you can!) is build scenes. If you try to edit/build a scene, the app crashes. You can, however, import scenes you've created on another device, and use them with the "Show Scene" action. It seems that full screen scenes crash it, though. I have had success displaying Overlays and Dialogs, though.
This should open up a whole world of possibilities on the FireTV...

    Droid edit
    Playon
    Quadrant
    Vplayer
    All work for me.
