IS there a 3.5mm/charging cable you can buy that will work with the pixel that will charge and be able to listen to headphones at the same time.

not available to the uk and also nearly $50. anything similar but cheaper
I have something similar. I tried them on my current pixel, but they do not work. Maybe they need something like the P2 in order to do so.

Also hoping someone makes this adapter soon, charging $45 from Google store seems crazy to me.
While I agree its crazy. So is listening to headphone while tied to the wall. Lol
Tied to wall... Or, he could be trying to charge while the aux is in his vehicle. Maybe he travels a lot and sits at the charging station at the airport. Doing work/homework and wants to listen to music. Maybe there's a side hustle and use square payment platform for hours and hours.

i charge my phone while listening to earbuds to fall asleep at night. this isn't that crazy of a need.
You forgot the "not near a car or wall charger, using an external battery/charger" scenario...
All the USB C audio adapters I've seen on amazon are for analog audio USB C. A key sign of this is that's for 'Moto Z' which only does USB C analog audio...
What we need is USB C 'digital' audio adapters, which in turn must have a DAC on the adapter itself. I agree with everyone that the charging+listening adapter for $40 is too much. The form factor is also too big. But I'd expect with time we'll see real cheap adapters for the Pixel 2 coming out.

Not so crazy... As soon as I get in my car, my phone goes in the car dock and in goes the USB-C car charger and audio cable as android auto comes to life. That's an hour or two of my phone use every day so it's a critical need that I will need to resolve.
This thing is now available on the Moshi site but not the Google store, I wonder if it is the same item?

at this point this is the only item pushing me towards the V30. Adding another $50 plus item onto an already expensive phone is just too much. Have an older car where I need to charge/headphone jack out to my radio.
The Pixel 2 XL's bluetooth has aptX HD. Get some aptX headphones and move on to the future.
Doesn't help those that are looking for dual charge/headphone use now does it?
