WOW, if exact steps are shown, i would test it of course! :good:

Lets hope DooM or any other Dev investigates on this...

:fingers-crossed:
Still waiting for the OP to post a response to our requests. Seems that a lot of people are interested in the solution and hopefully we'll get to the end of it.

I don't think they will agree to unlock it... Everybody will do it then.
they´ll pick up the xperia next monday. and like i said without cost.
yo need your simlock code to be able to unlock your bootloader via sony.
everybody on htcmania.com its doing it.

you need the sim lock code from your retailer or sony to debrand your cellphone, then you must send a email to sony.support telling them your imei, sim lock and that you want to change the status of unlock bootloader allowed to yes.
in a couple of days sony will reply you with a phone number where you have to give your adress and the day tha the phone will be sent to sony.

sorry for my english.

if you have more doubts contact me

Hmmm, this is not the answer I was expecting... while I can sim-unlock my terminal for free at my carrier, I wouldn't trust any other Sony representative service to handle my phone in order to perform the bootloader unlock procedure. Maybe the workaround that was mentioned earlier is real and we could unlock it at home with a special procedure, even if initially, in the service menu, the text clearly says that it is not unlockable.

If it's a Sony anybody, I'm up for it.

Anyway, I can also test the procedure if someone posts the steps. I'm not using my Z anyway.

Huh... same thing happened to me twice now... at first when I bought my XZ, in service test, my bootloader was unlockable,
and then, I fcked up when I was trying to install Doomlord, got the red LED... so I had to re-flash stock by Sony PC companion,
after that my bootloader status changed to "No". I was surprised, but let it go... and then today my PC companion said, there is new
software update for your device, I tought it was the new firmware. After update, firmware version was unchanged. So being impatient,
I backed the **** up. performed restore on my XZ, and now my bootloader status is unlockable again... Haven't tried to unlock or root
since, kinda waiting for people to pop up with the answers... and why the fck my firmware wasn't updated to the newest one? I tried to
update thru SEUS again, but to no avail, it says your firmware is up to date... which is .434

we are talking about unlockable phones only..... like branded phones. yours is unbranded, its normal that your status changed on a wrong flash.

Maybe you shouldn't use tool from Sony official tool for install the stock ROM. Just download your stock ROM from other website and try to flash it. :D

Just to let you know .... I have a bootloader locked version of the Xperia Z .... it is unbranded but since it was bought off the carrier it might have the nag locking the bootloader nonetheless.
- So I contacted Sony ... explaining that I have a sim-free phone which has a locked bootloader.
- I do have the sim unlock code that the carrier provided upon purchase, But my bootloader is still locked.
- Sony replied that they CANNOT unlock the bootloader .... because the carrier locked it!
- When I contacted the carrier ... they are blaming Sony for the bootloader lock.

Irrispective of all this ... it seems to me that the Flashtool can flash away the bootloader lock .. as the op posted ..... but nobody seems to have tried this out. Tell me who is this individual that offered you the bootloader unlock because I seem to be in your same situation but I got a negative answer from Sony ... while you managed your way through ... this is AN INTERESTING TOPIC INDEED and NEEDS further investigation.....

No matter what Sony says, I intend to unlock the bootloader nonetheless, and I wish to get to the bottom of this ....

Eventually a right answer. :)

I was told the same. But i love to risk "playing" with my gadgets. So when i bought the xperia z through a carrier I saw the first time i boot up that the phone Unlock bootloader = NO (about 5 minutes after i bought it from the shop, so it was "original as the carrier made it).
I didn't care it and i tried to unlock. I installed a unlocked bootloader and rom and i had all that problems with the radio stuff . But the second time, after i recovered it by flashtool and a sw from sony (i don't remember the name) I was allowed to unlock it and install unlocked stuff. Now I am with Paranoid and I am so happy :D
Can you describe step by step what you have done to have unlocked bootloader? What roms you used and the order of those roms when you flash them on your Xperia Z phone

Thank you
