Lollipop 5.1 for Shield Portable released!

No computer needed:

Had cwm recovery and root. Downloaded recovery 101 zip from nvidia developer flashed recovery.IMG inside zip with flashify. Updated to 5.1 with OTA lost root but successfully rooted again with latest kingroot.

How did you guys use a computer to flash it? Sis they release the img? I would like to flash it with my computer because I still haven't received the ota.

The recovery 5.1 103 zip can be downloaded from nvidia developer website but you need to sign up and wait to be accepted in order to download. You have to flash the extracted zip with fastboot. They supply instructions with list of commands under download button.

No flashify is to flash stock recovery if you already have cwm recovery

I disabled "Google" so the Shield button does not activate it but still the Game Mapper is not showing up. Thats horrible, dis anyone manage to get back the Game Mapper ?

Open the app/game and hold the start button till it pops up. Looks like play button. Work perfectly in lollipop

YES using the Start button it works, i coul've sworn i tried every special button.
Maybe i tried it within the Launcher and not in a game.

it really is like they de-nvidia the shield, like are they not proud of what they made anymore and their trying to push the tablet lifespan and kill the portable's? and im assuming the removal of the games is due to them ending their license/contract with those companies, i mean jeez, its like the nvidia button has no purpose to this machine what so ever if it takes you to google, it should take me to game grid

They didn't end no license's. Qube: directed cut came out last week for the shield portable, tablet, and TV. It's just the fact that some games need beefy-er hardware. Nvidia tries their best.

Can anybody confirm this issues?
1. Volume way too loud
2. Volume often varies, step 1 isn't always the same level.
3. Shield Hub can't be activated with button

All of these have been brought up on the Nvidia forums, so yes, they can be confirmed. I would like to add, that the volume changes dynamically depending on the sound being played In some games and emulators, I noticed that the sound would get quieter and louder without touching anything. I had Virtua Racing for 32x running in Retroarch and the volume dropped and raised in the same places during the demo mode every time, like it was done on purpose.
Is it just me, or does it seem like Nvidia is trying to de-Nvidia the Portable?

OMG I thought I was alone... yes, this happens a lot, heck you can reproduce it on the very settings screen, hit search and then tap repeatedly on the text entry box and you can hear it going louder over a few secs!

I added an autowake via deep sleep battery saver...

prob solve, there is incompatible with auto rotate(ultimate rotate control from fame it).....

Another update.

Fixes the broken buttons so the shield button directs to the shield hub and the start button actually works.
