It is legit and will probably be finished in not too long. (I'm not the dev, hexxeh is.)

Going to be awesome, apparently everything is working atm, except some HW acceleration stuff, due to chromium having some weird bugs.
Currently booting from a USB Stick via the Dual Boot android method posted by lilsteve (I think this is how he did it not 100% sure) So dual boot with Android should be very, very possible.

Thanks TDC. This is great.

Read somewhere ChromeOS is highly reliant on the cloud, hence not much can be done without an active internet connection.

IMO I don't see the point of running ChromeOS on an Android device, ChromeOS is essentially just a web browser that runs web apps where as you can do all sorts of things with your Android device.

It's cause it's awesome :D and chrome os would probably be more web-compliant and you would probably have more luck runing websites that wouldn't normally work on android like, say, a java site, or even hulu

But lets face it, browsing in android is far from perfect, and Linux isnt completely working yet , so this is a great option. If you dont care about it, then simply ignore this post.

Seems more like a Trojan Horse from Google, for when they start issuing subscription fees to use their cloud base services.

Then you'll have to pay them because you've outsourced your PC for a LCD.

Soon enough, you will actually own NOTHING other than the LCD, with everything else being the property of the Cloud provider.

Do you want to become an constant source of income for Google or any company for that matter?

That's just a stupid reason to not use cloud service. Whoever doesn't backup locally is an idiot. People worried about losing files on Google Music/Doc when they start charging doesn't make any sense. Are you going to stop using gmail as well and host your own email server? There are always alternatives on internet.

People have been talking about charging fees for gmail, youtube, facebook...but it never happened.
Guess what, technology evolves. The cost of storage and server will drop lower and lower.

So yeah, I am working on this. Progress is kinda slow and my time I can spend on it is limited since my time is being taken up by paid work at the moment, but I've just dropped £400 on one of these for the sole purpose of porting CrOS too it, so it might take a while, but I'll be damned if there's no decent quality build for it within a couple months

Here's the current state of things.

    What works?

    Boot from SD/USB
    Framebuffer
    WiFi
    Touchscreen
    Dock keyboard
Volume buttons (though they're currently upside down, easily fixed)

    What doesn't?

Graphical acceleration (Tegra driver is bug ridden, trying to work around this)
Battery gauge (power_manager needs support for dual batteries adding)

This is cool, I just hope hexxeh doesn't bail on the project when he gets his next toy. He left his Luigi project out to die in the sun, kinda killed a lot of CR-48 users who were hoping for some resolution to the BIOS/VPD issue.

Although I'm personally not a fan of Chrome OS after having tested it with the CR-48 for six months.

Luigi was taken down because of concerns it was wiping out unique information on the device. There's no negative effect of this, but I removed the tool as a precautionary measure.

I spent weeks looking into ways of rebuilding the VPD, but I couldn't find a way of doing it. However, I've kept an eye on things since then, and there's still no detrimental effect to not having the unique info in your VPD. In fact, it's actually ignored by the OS and copies of this info in alternative locations are used.

So how often would you open Chrome on your TF without an active internet connection?

How often do you use post without trying to seem like a smart ass?

How often do you use an OS that only works with an Internet connection?

Hexxeh thanks for taking the time to comment here. We appreciate all the work you do, and look forward to seeing what you come up with on this project.
