Various parts of the Android system or Android apps are designed to launch a program, but aren't capable of launching an application shortcut. For example, they're willing to run a timer application, but they aren't willing to run its "start timer now" shortcut. One example is the samsung ICS lock screen, which is neat in other respects but suffers from this really lame limitation.

Is there an app that can be configured to run another app's shortcut? For example, I could configure the lock screen to launch "Fast Shortcut Helper", and fast shortcut helper will have already been configured to run the "start timer now" shortcut. Has anybody seen an app like this?

I have the exact same question now too.

I would either like to find an app that does this, or figure out if it is something really simple to program.... Then I might be able to do it myself :p

I stumbled across a possible answer in another thread:

Use Tasker to make a rule that runs a shortcut, and use Tasker App Factor to create a .apk which runs that rule.

Awkward solution, and costs $8, but I imagine this would do the job.
