We are putting the finishing touches on an app we have been working on little by little for almost half a year. We are working hard to provide it in as many languages as we can, but we are finding the limitations of Bing or Google translations, and we would like to provide a better experience for our users.

So we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to take our english screens, and translate them for us.

We can't offer any payment for this unfortunately, but we will be happy to include your names into the app credited as "Special Thanks" or "Localisation Volunteers"!

Specifically, we are looking for people who can translate English into:
- Chinese Simplified
- Czech
- Danish
- Dutch
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Greek
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Norwegian
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Russian
- Spanish
- Swedish

daniel-t, maybe you just upload English string from your 0409 mui and that's it? The guys will gradually translate it to different languages and attach here.... Someone can propose some corrections on the fly....

We are using resX files for translation, but once we have a volunteer we can send the screens and they can be translated from that. This way they can see the context in which the text appears

Here are the screens so far...

Here's my German translation. Sometimes the wording is a bit different from the original but that's what makes sense best to me.

Moved to WP7 Software Development

I think that's the best place for this!

Take it easy

This translation seems pretty good to me...Although there are some typos in it - and some parts don't fit as good as they should (imho).

I modified your translation a little bit (the red parts in the quote are changes) to make it sound better :)

Good luck with your app, daniel-t. Sounds like a cool idea :)

If you want, you can also thank me ([email protected]) but you don't have to. The main work was done by bleh815.

Thank you for all your offers. We are getting close to finishing the bug testing. When we are ready to do the final translations we will be in touch, but for now, we are making a list of people who have offered to help us. And we will be listing your names and twitter/web addresses in the app as a credit for your help.

andreacorti = Italian

bleh815 + -WP7User- = German

P4d0uch = Czech

If you could send me your full name and twitter/weblink to me via twitter, then I will add you to the list!

No programming will be required, we will do that. We just need to replace our crappy Bing/Google translations to make it better for the users

I'd like to translate the app to Finnish. I have previous experience of translating a few apps, so it should be familiar to me :)
Thank you for the offer, if you have twitter please send me your name on there, or email it to me, with a weblink if you have a site you want us to link to

can translate to Slovenian
no twitter acc
Thank you for the offer, unfortunately Slovenian is not supported by Windows Phone at the moment. If a Windows 8 version is to come, or maybe iOS or Android versions (providing I can find willing programmers LOL) then we may have need of your help!

---

I have a Google Doc setup for these translations, and we will use those to update our RESX files. We will also consider releasing a test XAP if we can arrange one, so you can test the app and its translations yourselves

And when do you give us that documents? is the app in the final stage of development or not?
We will share the document with those who have volunteered quite soon.

We only have a few hours an evening to work on it, and there are a couple of things to work out.

For example, we will be working tonight on Trial support which will display adverts. We may have to include a string of text for that. Once we decide on that, then we can add the English String, and add it to the list of things that need translating.

Then we may be adding an option to override the language of the app in the settings screen. We are seeing if there is a strong enough demand for that. If so, that's more strings that will need translating.

Finally, the marketplace descriptions may need to be translated, and they wont be written until the app is finished.

It is only the two of us, so it is going slower, but we wanted to ask for volunteers sooner rather than later, to give us time to find as many volunteers for the various languages as possible.
