I'm ridin' it out with ya buddy. But the difference between you and I is how to deal with it if they finally catch us in the sweep. It sounds like you're going to the 2GB plan. I'm going through retentions and telling them to block all data and text and see what they offer. If they say nothing, there's nothing to lose. I can always call and activate the current plans.

They'll offer the current plans. Years ago they made it so that legacy plans and features are not available in the computers - even management cannot override. You can tell them whatever you want, but if you want data, your only recourse will be to sign up with a current $15/$25 data plan or go to a competitor. It bytes, but that's the way it is.

I just checked out the offerings on the website in the My account settings. It seems if you have an iPhone, you can either stay on the 30$ unlimited plan or change to one that is a little cheaper, being the new non-unlimited plans.

All of my family are on ATT except me and there are two iPhones on one account. The other three phones still have the option for the unlimited family data for 10$ per phone. As long as you are paying for unlimited family messaging. I think that the other plan is for NON-PDA/Pocket PC's/and Smart Phones. They are trying to make some extra cash off of smart phone users it would seem.

I just checked the new AT&T site, it was down for maintenance. I still have my $20 media max and wife has $30 PDA Personal. Both listings still show unlimited. She got bumped to $30, 9 months ago when she got an HTC Fuze. Replaced the Fuze with an N1 and she loves it.
I still see Messaging & Data Unlimited $30 and Data Unlimited $15 on the website. Guess that goes away tomorrow.

Now that's interesting. I definitely stopped seeing those options a few days ago on my specific number on my account. My parents' numbers still have those options. Maybe I'll play around and drop my SIM into my older Motorola KRZR to see if those options show up again. I doubt it, but who knows. :)

EDIT: Actually, now that I've read through the rest of this thread, I'm thinking my idea will be a bad idea. Oh well, I'll see how my usage is and decide accordingly. Until then, I'll stay grandfathered in at $30/month with a 5 GB cap ("unlimited").

They'll offer the current plans.
you'd be surprised what plans they have in the system that aren't advertised. For example, my 1000 minute plan for $39.99 was never an advertised plan but they gave it to me to match T-Mobile's offering. I'm pretty sure they have data plans they can offer than aren't the standard advertised plans.

So I should hassle them about me leaving, eh? A little hard to do so since I upgraded my parents' phones this past December and if I just left, then they could just move the main plan onto my Dad's or Mom's number.

So in their eyes, they'd be out $9.99/month. Whoop-de-doo, and I can't blame AT&T either.

you just say
"and what are my early term fees total?" ...... "hmm, that doesn't seem like much, can i speak with someone about possibly cancelling my account, i think this is (insert fun word here)"

if you threaten to cancel your account they have to get you to retention. that team can do almost anything.

Well, I really have no real reason to cancel my account unless I shop around first to see what T-Mo or Verizon offers right now. I'd prefer not to pay $30/month for my older 5 GB/month data plan, but I use over 200 MB/month, yet nowhere near 2 GB/month.

Clearly the new $15/month and $25/month plans don't do it for me and I need something in between. Any ideas, "Mr. AT&T?" ;) :p

they won't be able to get your data plan down in price BUT they could probably save you some money on your voice plan.

if you threaten to cancel your account, you get SO far when trying to save some $$$ on your bill.. especially if you've been a customer for a while(at least 2+ years)

I will never buy another phone from google.. they let us down the only way att got the imei's so they could bump us to the 30 plan was if google or htc gave them the imei's..

i never have problems with my kids n5800s which get 3g or my n97 or i8910 ... only the n1.

am selling it on ebay and getting something else maybe i9000 if it comes out if no carrier picks it up.

the IMEI's are public info, google didnt give anybody anything. ATT decided to take notice and went out looking for the specific info for nexus ones.

Lol yeah, also sue police for busting you while smoking weed.

Dude, google can't legally block phone from sending imei to AT&T. If that is IN FACT what is happening here. Imo, it's still a speculation. W/e the case, google has nothing to do with this.

This is how false rumors are spread.
