i have a same problem on my LTE version SGP521. feels like cheap poorly made device when I hear that cracking sound and I have a feeling that could compromise water tight seal. I talked to sony support and they gave me retarded respond saying give it a time. WTF Sony???
I'm gonna start calling them up until I get replacement I'm not waiting this will not get fixed itself magically.
Nah. I replaced mine, still same. don't bother changing as every set is the same. As long as it's working.

I got a Z2 Tablet from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and the unit I received had this exact problem! I was debating whether to just live with it but I work for a retailer who stocks the Z2 Tablet and compared mine to 3 different demo units. All the units were completely solid in comparison to mine so I decided to return to Amazon. My replacement should arrive tomorrow so fingers crossed this one is better!

Thing is, I'm not sure the device I got did this from the start... I think it developed a few days down the line. So the demo units I compared against might feel solid now, but will they a couple of weeks down the line? Time will tell...

Something very wrong there... Hopefully the water isn't going somewhere that could damage the unit!

I have just received my replacement from Amazon and this one is even worse! The left side, the middle and the right side all have a lot of movement and have the crackling sort of sound! Will send this one back and try again!!

I must say though, Amazon have been brilliant so far... Hopefully all goes smoothly again with the return!

Let me add a new problem I will film it if this sticks after I'm back from work.
It's a speaker glitch issue sounds like a persisting " tik tik tik tik tik " sound whenever I touch action buttons on the screen like keywords keypads etc..

Try disable the "Vibrate by touch" function.

Hello there !

To whose having that loose feel/creaking problem: Peek over the long side of the Z2 and see if your tablet is slightly curved, not absolutely straight.

With my Z2, it seems the display glass is just a tiny bit too small, putting some stress on the body, leading to that slightly curved appearance.
This might be the cause for the problem.

My Z2 did not produce any creaking noise right after unpacking - I knew this thread prior to buying the tablet, so I checked thoroughly for any creaking issues, especiallly on the right bezel side: Nothing at all, felt and sounded solid as a rock.
Issues started after using the Z2 for a few days. At the same time, the touchscreen issue also came up - but maybe that's just a coincidence.

So please give the creak a peek, let's see if there's any connection between body deformation and the issue at hand.

I am using the LTE variant, running v2.55.

Here's a video of the problems I hope this issue is with just the first batch build
Sony z2 tablet problem:
I also have the creaking sound and I also tried to put it in the bathtub! Got alot of bubbles from the exact same corner as you ;/. I wonder what to make out of all this... The tablet worked fine afterwards, though I do have the touch-screen response problem aswell!

Crozar: My Z2 was bought in Europe, Germany. Creaking and touchscreen issues, body slightly curved, not straight.
I did not submerge the Z2 as I fear leaking problems, but already wrote an eMail to Sony mentioning the problems and asking for replacement (bought the Z2 via Sony's online shop).

Is the problems you have are exact same as my tablet? Most importantly the crackling sound?

I'm from uae and Middle east Sony market is from Singapore

If that's the case then lol to Sony.

When things become slim in general it becomes very delicate , so I believe the quality build from Sony these years was not very successful with their new technological approaches.I have sony vaio flip and duo 11 and I see resemblances build quality problems that are small as this but can be harmful interms for their users.

Did you purchase from this European site.
I have bubbles coming out from the same corner. I can hear creaking from basically all sides of the tablet if I press hard enough, however its mostly noticable from the right, shortside, of the tablet.

I bought mine from the swedish shop. Replace .co.uk with .se.

I suggest reading my post # 28 and checking your device for the design flaw mentioned. Maybe that explains it.
Im not really sure I understand what you mean by that post. I had another look now and yes, its sligtly bent but not much at all.

That's what I wanted to know. Maybe there is a connection between a "bent" Z2 and the creaking, touchscreen and possible water ingress problems.
ALL, please: Check your Z2 if it's slightly bent, curved, not straight (see post #28). And if that's the case: Did you experience creaking and touchscreen issues ?
