Did you find a solution? The same problem. LOS 14/15/16 Dialer built in SIP call microphone gain very very low. Zoiper, sound recorder, gsm call, stb o.k.
I definitely have not found a solution. So I changed phone and I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. I will never buy Samsung again

Anyway, i have G900W8, tried few fixes some works for something, some barely, and when i tought that i fixed everything, ear speaker stoped working when i call someone. But since this is my daily driver, i could not test it anymore so i switched back to stock 6.0.1.

There are a tons of mods for volume patches, both be mic and speaker. Some are less tested on lineage 15.1 based but if you look through the mixer is files you can kind of learn what needs to be changed. One of them showed a guide what they changed. Anyways good luck don't have Kyle anymore just trying to help a bit.

Yes i saw that, it's kind of self explanatory to some degree, but as i said, this is my daily driver, and i don't have more time to test it, so i restored stock backup, maybe i will try to fix it again, maybe not. xD No problem, thx for trying. :D

I finally got the original xml files from Galaxy S5 SM-G900M running stock Samsung Marshmallow, is it possible to be adapt to newer version of Android?
E.g. Lineage OS running Oreo?
I don't know why it would be hard to get it and what are you willing to accomplish exactly??
Anyway I saw some missing paths when compared to marshmallow's mixer_paths.xml. I added them and uploaded as micgain30-normal

I hope it won't break anything. (here it seems to be working)

Facing the low record volume with my SM-G900F, although I've noticed that it seems to be a problem with WhatsApp voice recording. The stock recorder of my LOS 16 (use it with GApps pico) seems to have a decent volume. As for a flashable zip, I think we have to wait for someone who is capable of changing the installation scripts by adjusting the paths which seem to have been changed in LOS 16. When that is done, there most probably will be a backup and a micgain zip which we could test.
If anyone reading this can help with it, we'd appreciate it.

The wording at some parts of your text implicated to me it wasn't sure (e.g. the "may"), my main point though was that there were no backup files so if I had flashed your file I wouldn't have had an important safety measure. If I may suggest something for the first post: I think you should simply state that your solution is supposed to change settings to gain microphone volume, then just add the supported versions, leave the how to flash part as well as the rest.

Anyway, I've flashed your "normal volume" zip and it seems to have solved the problem. Thank you very much. I will leave a link to your solution on the LOS reddit.

Cheers!

Edit: Do you happen to have a version without an enhancement of the speaker? It is loud. :D

I agree, speakers are waaay too loud even in the "normal" one. It could lead to the damage of the speakers...

I am also having microphone volume problems on video recording.. I played around with increasing mic gains in the mixer_paths.xml but have not found the right line.. Any thoughts?

thanks
sam

PS - also installed camera fv-5 - same issue. The mic input is just too low.

mic volume on video recording is also increased with this patch.
you can manually change it editing the file

/vendor/etc/mixer_paths.xml (FOR LOS 16)
or /etc/mixer_paths.xml (FOR LOS 15/14)

...searching for <path name="rec-stereo-mic"> and editing values inside of it.

here I use:
<ctl name="DEC2 Volume" value="95" />
<ctl name="DEC4 Volume" value="98" />
and it's greeeeeat.

Ok! I was editing /etc/mixer_paths.xml.... Not /vender/etc/mixer_paths...

that seemed to fix it - I changed it to 109....

Thanks!!

any known bugs as of June 2019?? Also has anyone modified a simple version for just in call mic volume. I am not experiencing anything over the top as far as problems go. I only have low mic volume in calls and low mic volume when sending whats app recordings. Alternatively if anyone has a suggestion to where i can learn what changes I need to make then please direct me to correct thread/ video etc.. as I wouldn't mind learning how to edit this myself to my own liking.
EDIT: I am using LOS 16 June 2 Nightly with G900T. Can someone vouch this is working on the their g900T with all static or distortion as mentioned earlier in the thread. I read all 22 pgs but still not sure if i shout use the 1103 version

It has not worked!

Unfortunately, it has not worked! I tried all versions except the 26-906k that is not for my version.

  • Phone: Galaxy S5
  • Model: SM-G900M
  • Codename: klte
  • TWRP version: 3.3.1-0

When I flashed it using TWRP, it showed me up the same message with all versions:

  • Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
    Error installing zip file '/external_sd/MICGAIN-110319-normal.zip'
  • Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
    Error installing zip file '/external_sd/MICGAIN-110319-higher.zip'
  • Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
    Error installing zip file '/external_sd/MICGAIN-060519-normal.zip'
  • Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
    Error installing zip file '/external_sd/MICGAIN-060519-higher.zip'

I am using Lineage OS 16 w/ Android Pie.
My flashing order: LineageOS > Gapps > Magisk > MicGain

Thoughts?

PS: I think you should have explained more deeply the 26-906k version and the difference between the old and new version (if there is something beyond the fact it is an old and new version, like what improvements you have added...). Not everyone here are devs.
