Lots of processes...

The Atrix is my first android phone. I've been a little disappointed with the battery life, and I've been seeing some choppiness in the app drawer. I've rooted it and I'm using launcher pro. I've frozen a lot of the crapware with titanium backup. However, when I go to 'Manage Applications' in the 'running' tab I see like 50-100 icons. Most of them appear to not be full on user accessible applications, but when I look on my friend's Nexus 1, and several other android devices, I see between 5 and 15 processes. Are they simply hiding stuff, or am I actually running about 5 times more processes than they are? Is there a good way I can manage the amount of running processes? thanks.

did you check out this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972459

maybe you are still missing some apps that you can freeze. i have about 30 process in that running tab but most of them looks like android os processes. i wouldnt worry about those too much.

try going to settings>applications>running services and see what you have running and you can tap them to stop the process. i have 4 things running there when the phone is on standby. i bet you have one or two programs that are responsible for draining your battery. it also helps to turn off sync in settings>accounts and sync.

you have androidsdk installed? if so you can try
type:
su
logcat

then put your phone to sleep and you can see what is still running.
