These are actually pretty good. I'm really curious as to how much the camera will be updated with the Nougat update. Might have to get an Axon 7 as a second phone to go along with my V20. At least ZTE seems to be TRYING to improve their phone. LG doesn't seem to care at all.

I like what ZTE is doing with this device and with the community, they are opening themselves to suggestions and comments, and are trying to add what people think is useful. For me, the V10 and V20 were more like experiments, and indeed are excellent phones, but they won't get too much attention because no many people is getting them. People in 2016 went for the cheap and good options, phones no more than $400 USD with excellent specs, and pretty much is hard to justify paying the double for just marginal upgrades.

I think the Axon 7 is the device to have for now, and is getting more and more attention from consumers and developments, which means longer life.

Camera comparison with the LG G4

I made a picture comparison between the Axon 7 and the LG G4, which I find has a very good and sharp camera, even in very low light:

ZTE Axon 7 A2017G, firmware B11:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wjb4r175c5lujr4/AABBey2EHyZaRBhGoHbZ_VZta?dl=0

LG G4:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rjss1bk5dqmz2cp/AADxxd7LU18q_xbt45dhFJsqa?dl=0

From there you can zoom in into the original photos and even download them to see the EXIF data.

GOOD LIGHT
-the pictures in the daylight and from the bar were taken in auto mode, for one or two I adjusted the exposure with the slider
-here, the Axon 7 wins in my optinion. The photos are very detailed, also small structures at the far end of the streets or in trees can be seen

LOW LIGHT
-the pictures with the desk and the TV box are just 100% crops from the whole image, taken under dark warm light; in the picture taken by the LG, the blue "55 XD80" writing on the box is much clearer and brighter than on the ZTE
-I took these photos in manual mode, adjusting the ISO to 1600 (the maximum you can select) - auto mode would use around 4400 and was worse
-the Axon 7 hasn't the ability to combine multiple pictures into one, like the G4 does in very low light (you can tell because there is no EXIF data regarding to the shooting mode in the photos - there were done probably 2 fast shots with different settings each) - the G4 is sharper and captures more light
-the colors in the low light pictures are different between the 2 phones - but the Axon 7 captured them exactly how they looked in reality
-the 2 low light pictures from outside: the ZTE isn't at all bad here, the fence in the front and the cars can clearly be seen (10_dark.jpg), but the G4 is still better

All photos on the G4 were taken in auto mode. It took the picture with the corridor in HDR mode, that's why the walls are much brighter. I don't remember if the ZTE used HDR there, but I reduced the exposure a little because originally the walls in the center were too bright.

Overall, I'm glad I bought the ZTE, I can't fault it in any way. At least for my tastes it has a very good camera.
Focussing was not much of an issue with it, even the LG had sometimes problems.

Why not updating to the latest firmware?, you are in an old build, is not even Nougat.

For me, Nougat slightly improved quality and focus, so maybe you should give it a try. Latest version is B02 Nougat.

:good:

P.D.: HDR and Night Mode are activated automatically on Auto mode in the Axon 7, and you have also the long exposure mode or you can set it manually as well. In dark conditions, I always set the exposure to 1/2 and adjust WB and I get pretty decent pictures.

B11 is the latest that I received OTA (Marshmallow). Isn't Nougat still in beta? What is the newest build for A2017G? On the ZTE homepage I found only B10 to download.

With my build, 1/2 is too shaky, even 1/3 is tricky. I have no Long Exposure mode (just Super Night which is about 2s). The "Night Mode" and HDR do absolutely nothing on my phone.

Edit: On ztedevice.com there is no Nougat but I just found it on ztemobile.de. But there is says, that in order to install it I first have to install B10. What if I have B11? Do I have to downgrade?

The beta for Nougat was over like 2 months ago, the latest release is B02 and is available only for OTA. The B11 was an update made to receive the B02 which is really weird you are not receiving.

If OTA is not coming (which is pretty weird), you can try with the next version:

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120726375

Is the whole update package from B11 to B02, you just need to put in on the SD root and then go to the update menu and it should see the update.

I've got the Axon 7 (G) and I am in the same situation, B11 and no update to Nougat with OTA. The smartphone works fine so I'm gonna wait for the next few weeks.

No need to wait, you probably won't receive it. The best way is to go to one of the threads that talk about the update B01, download the full B01 which should be called something like official7.1.1.zip and put it in the internal storage, then open Updates and wait until it appears, then flash. 100% legal

What camera apk is everyone using. I flashed AOSP ROM and it uses the stock google camera apk and it has very little options, low light pics aren't anywhere as good as these.

I'm using stock camera with stock unrooted ROM, no development so far and for this kind of phones, I think is always the best to stay in stock.
