i think its safe to assume al 7.8 have restriction best bet is downgrade via navifirm and NCC or custom rom if you have qualcomm
Dude, no one's spreading FUD here. Also, no one really cares about the resetting back to 13 when you restart your phone. That doesn't bother me at all.To all those who have been continuously complaining about the new volume restriction thing, may I know what exactly is your issue that you are going as far as to suggest downgrading the fw to be the best solution. Its not like you cant increase the volume beyond 13. YES, the volume does increase to the same levels as before, if its not doing that in your phone then its a problem with the hardware and not the software. I agree it does reset the volume level back to 13 when you restart the phone, but honestly, how frequently do you need to restart the phone!! Max 3-4 times in a month. So please stop spreading FUD.
There's no way to edit the registry on a phone with DLOAD though... right?Change EnableVolumeLimit"=dword:1 to EnableVolumeLimit"=dword:0 and see if that helps.
I'll never tried it, but you should read this:There's no way to edit the registry on a phone with DLOAD though... right?
But thats what i am talking about. I am using the India ROM and my phone is STILL as loud as it was before the upgrade to 7.8. Are you sure its not an issue with your phone hardware?Dude, no one's spreading FUD here. Also, no one really cares about the resetting back to 13 when you restart your phone. The issue is that the maximum volume is now *much* lower than it used to be. So much lower that using your phone to listen to stuff when outside (where there's lots of ambient noise) is now impossible. This is a primary use case for me, so downgrading is the only option (besides getting a different phone).
Your link doesn't work, sadly. What was it you were trying to link to?I'll never tried it, but you should read this:

I would doubt it. Having downgraded, the volume has got much louder, like it used to be. So clearly the hardware is capable of doing it.But thats what i am talking about. I had thought the same thing myself, but I've looked at the contents of ROMs from all over the place, including some of the newly released Latin American and Chinese ROMs, and they *all* contain the volume limit package, with the exact same registry entries inside.Maybe the restriction is only included in european ROMs? I am not quite sure, but isn't the EU responsible for this whole volume limitation? Is there really no way to remove that stupid limit without a full unlock? I have a Lumia 800 with a german 7.8 ROM and a dev unlock.
Damn, wasn't the best idea to flash the update after all. -.- They really had to f**k up the media player, didn't they? No update to xbox music, still no simple equalizer, horrible ringtone limitations (max 30 secs and under 10mb + mark as "ringtone" WTF ?!), removal of the lock screen integration of zune (not that bad, but ugly though) AND now this volume sh*t!I had thought the same thing myself, but I've looked at the contents of ROMs from all over the place, including some of the newly released Latin American and Chinese ROMs, and they *all* contain the volume limit package, with the exact same registry entries inside.
You're probably deaf.Updated to latest t-mobile UK 7.8, no volume difference at all, headphones or speakerphone.
Peace
Headphones only, but im not sure since I don't reqllyhear much from loudspeaker, so it can be also applied on loudspeaker. Btw its a feature, not really a bug. Some countries do have restriction for audio volume as a precaution required by department of health. Is this volumerestriction BUG only for headphones or also the speakers?
