Lumia 800 sms message

Hey there i am having a problem with my lumia 800
every time i recieve a message it pops up on the top of my screen and it sits there for everyone to read. is there a possibility to hide this?

Flip your Phone upside down or cover the light sensor

that will not do it, on my android i have 1000 of apps that will hide everything i want but on a windows phone there aren't any?
or at least an option to not make a message pop up on my home screen?

that's kind of ridiculous don't you think?

Swipe the notification from left to right to hide it each time.
Can't turn off the notification pop up if you don't want it..

You asked how, this is how man, there is no other way...

It kind of sucks but that is the design choice, android has an overkill of features, WP7 is minimalistic by design. Too minimalistic for many even.

1. Don't leave your phone lying around people you don't want to see your messages.

2.) Turn airplane mode on when you do leave it around people you don't want reading your sms and manually check for any when you get back to it.

I think number 1 is the easiest, not difficult to put a phone in your pocket, or turn it off if your not taking it out
