Hello friends,
I posted a decently deep analysis of the differences between the Honor Magic V and the Huawei Mate X2.

My post can be found here: https://ultramunch.com/honor-magic-v-vs-huawei-mate-x2-a-comprehensive-analysis/

Hopefully this answers a lot of your questions regarding these two phones, but to summarize:

  • There is no known / reliable way to get Google Services running on the Honor Magic V (at the time of making this post)
  • The Honor Magic V has a better processor on paper, but the overall feeling is slower than the Mate X2
  • The Honor Magic V has a vastly inferior camera compared to the Mate X2 (probably not a surprise to anyone)
  • I did not really conduct any battery life tests as I thought this was not really very interesting since the Honor Magic V is already so inferior in other ways
  • Mate X2 prices seem to be dropping, so between the two phones the choice is not that difficult
  • Some awesome members on here --> ThatsYisy have posted some amazing tutorials already about Mate X2 Google Services
I hope this answers your questions regarding the Mate X2 and the Magic V.

I hope nobody falls for the lies and deception that is going around that the Honor Magic V somehow has Google services on it or is able to easily load Google services. It's easier to get Google on Huawei at this point since it's been around for much longer!

Let me know if you have any other questions about these 2 phones!

Great post, but I respectfully and entirely disagree with your comparisons. I own both phones and use them both as daily drivers. Firstly, I don't care about google, if you want google don't buy either phone, simple. Speed of the honor magic v along with network performance is much much faster than the x2. I also find that in most scenarios the honor magic V camera is much better than the Mate X2 (I don't need to zoom to the moon). Also there are alot less bugs and crashes on the honor magic v than I had on my Mate x2. The battery life on the honor magic v is significantly better than the mate x2. The honor magic v feels like the mate x3 in reality.

Everyone has their opinions. I agree with elements of both posters above.

I'll be honest. They're basically the same phone. The real differences are that the x2 has much better zoom and the magic v will play games at a better fps. That's it in a nutshell. No over complicated analysis needed.

Currently own the magic v and used to own the mate x2. With what I know now, without price being an issue I'd have kept the x2. Factor in price the magic v wins, if you can get it at its real, uninflated rip off price that is. The mate x2 is just a rip off price wise even from the manufacturer

All in all the 8 gen 1 chip just ain't worth the upgrade. I really gotta stop falling for the hype.

Everyone is free to have their own opinions, your experience may be different from mine.

I am curious how you used your Mate X2? From the way you said that you don't need Google, I'm wondering what kind of crashes you were experiencing?

The only time I ever experienced issues with my Mate X2 was BEFORE I fully got Google Mobile Services running on it. (When I was using a lazy method such as GSpace or just Aurora Store, the phone had problems all the time.)

Once I when through the steps and fully hacked the Mate X2 with real Google services, the phone has worked flawlessly (well basically the same as the P30 Pro). Meaning sometimes the battery optimization makes you not get push notifications and you have to make sure apps like messenger apps always have battery optimizations turned off.

Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed your Magic V! I recently sold my Magic V and I was worried if the buyer would complain about it and want to return it...
