Yes. Before measure app: no one cared. So op ceased development
Now after measure app: op is not available. And everybody is loosing their mind. Lol jk
Op: if you get this working. Xda will feature you.
Ooops, I have used new method for it, now it doesn't require magisk module, saving extra spaces in the magisk.img and reduce the need to re-add the system app on every boot. I thought the app must be system app, but turns out no need.
ArnovaG2 has created a
TWRP zip, that put the device.proto based on the ro.build.product. Simply install all arcore, arsticker and measure from apkmirror, then flash the zip in the twrp. The zip doesn't modify the system, but simply add the required config to the /data folder, so it is safe for safety-net.
However, As I tested, using official AR sticker doesn't work. I have to use the
modified ARsticker, same version as from here. That's why the signature mismatched from my previous try, as it has been modified. Measure app opens fine, but can never find flat surface to start the measurement. Guess we still need extra work. In the end, updating the ArCore still doesn't allow me to use the measurement app.
I have been dreaming about this since 2015, when I found out Animal 4D+ app. Seller can benefit from creating a 3D model of their product. Buyer can download this model and place it immediately in their living room and use the "real size" approximately. Or some sort of color changing algorithm, so we can pick the best color and see the result realtime. Afaik, some video game stores in Japan have created an app to preview a game from the case, before purchasing it. But Google need to wait so long to implement it system-wide in android. Having this will boost the AR usage in real life and along with XR to merge much faster.
