For some reason, I can't get this to work. I have disabled the systemloss option in magisk and enabled in adaway as OP stated. Add his lists. Tried updating but it asks me to symlink which works and then asks me to reboot. Afterwards, checking the app there's still an update it seems it's not applying the changes. It also always asks for the symlink option.

No, as the title says, the usage if this module is deprecated in favour of AdAway. So there will be no update...

How do I block the following: ||vidcpm.com^ This is the format used in ublock Origin. AdAway by default doesn't block it. Just add the above to Blacklist? Thanks.
Yes, but adding vidcpm.com to your blacklist will block this host only (and not the whole domain). To block www.vidcpm.com too you have to add it, too.
For me it works, unlike adblock. Try this. Uninstall everything. Toggle systemless host in Magisk. Reboot. Install module. Reboot. Update host. Reboot. It will work.
I couldnt get adblock app to work, dont know why, i tried everything.

Now I updated Magisk, and realized that this module is discontinued. Installed Adaway again. It works but ONLY for browser! So deprecating this module is unjustified! Adaway doesn't do the same thing this module did! 
Please anybody has any other suggestion to remove in-app ads that doesn't involved installing exposed!? I don't want to install exposed just for sake of apps

Just change the hosts source in Adaway to Steven Blacks hosts file of your choice (links in the OP) and change the redirect address to 0.0.0.0. That'll be exactly the same as what this module did.

Choose a StevenBlack list that does not include social sites (look at the OP here, all explained).
As the url/name says: This list tries to save your privacy by blocking sending data to the companies which collect all data of you and your behaviour. If you really need to feed them whitelist your favorite "social" sides or choose another list, e.g. the general one.

If you have the systemless hosts module active it's not modifying the real /system/etc/hosts, but the file that Magisk has magic mounted in it's place.
It is systemless (but because the new file is mounted as /system/etc/hosts you think the original one is changed. But the original system partition is untouched, the checksum is still ok. If you boot into recovery and check the hostfile (e.g. via builtin filemanager after mounting system) you'll notice there's still the old hosts file.I've added a hosts source but I'm still seeing it change the hosts file within /system/etc/hosts. What are Unified Host Files?
Unified host files combine many reputable sources into a single hosts file (with duplicates removed). Some examples include adaway, mvps, yoyo.org, and malware domain list (see Steven Black's page here for a complete list).
Adaway Installation for Magisk:
Adaway version 4.x now works properly with magisk systemless hosts. To enable it, just install the latest version from here (the main xda thread for it hasn't been updated for it yet). Then go to Preferences -> Enable systemless mode. This automatically enables the Systemless hosts option in magisk manager so no need to bother with that. Then use the app as normal.
How to Add Unified Hosts to Adaway:
In the adaway app, go to Preferences -> Redirection IP (NOT Allow Redirects). Change the value to 0.0.0.0. Read the readme on Steven Black's GitHub linked above for why.
Then go to Hosts Sources. Then add the url of the unified hosts you want (ONLY CHOOSE 1):

Original Mod Information:38Hey everyone. It's a sad moment for me but all good thing must come to an end. I recently decided to check up on adaway again to see the progress and found that it's been updated to version 4 which has proper support for magisk systemless hosts. It goes without saying that adaway is far superior to this mod in every way (can do everything this can plus much more) so I'm discontinuing this mod since there's no need for it anymore. I've moved over this (and all mods I work on) to my personal site where I'll have the last build up if you want it.
I'll be updating the OP in the coming minutes with more information on adaway, how to enable systemless hosts for magisk, where to get the latest apk (the xda thread hasn't been updated yet), and how to add unified hosts to it.

Also, for some reason, adaway wouldn't detect the systemless hosts file for me so i had to set a custom path and symlink it10Well this beta has been stick around longer than I anticipated. So I went ahead and updated the module for 14.2. However, I changed the template a bit as I always do to maintain support for magisk installs on cache and because 14.2 is still only a beta and many users would prefer to stay on the stable build, I maintained backwards compatibility with v14.0. So uha v3.0 is now live and is compatible with magisk version 14+
P.S. This means those weird mounting errors will be gone now
