Ok,. So your rooted now? If so simply try using titanium backup to find and enable the disabled phone and message apps
this rom does not contain message or phone apk in it and i cant sideload it. i need T865 TWRP rom. Just as once i did it in Samsung N8005. N8005 only had 3g support but N8000 had call and 3g support. I basically flashed N8000 rom to N8005 and it worked perfectly.

That's because this is a Magisk Module. That only adds modified files to overlay over a stock system.

If you have a stock system, that doesn't have the apps you need, then you need to find them and add them.

Find the apks, and drop them in /data/adb/modules/weta_rom/system/priv-app

Confused

I'm rooted with Magisk, no TWRP, Build number
PPR1.180610.011.T860XXU1ASH4.
  • Can I use this ROM/Magisk module?
  • If so, what file do I flash in Magisk?
I've flashed lots of custom ROMs, but this new to me so clarification needed.
Thanks!

Well, all I can say is no matter who you are or what you've done in the past. Samsung will change the required methods every 6 months to get to where we all want to be.

This is a magisk module. Overlaying only the files needed for modification. Flash the zip in magisk manager and reboot. SH4 is older than SK1 so can't guarantee things are going to work out. But worst case scenario, from TWRP delete the /data/adb/modules/weta_rom folder and it'll go back to stock

I'll try it. Also saw a few other files, namely the 'WETA_Kernel' zips. Would these be of interest to someone like me who likes to tweak things?

Youre going to need to flash the kernel that works on your firmware yeah.

In post #2 there is a link to the TWRP thread which is the easiest way to root. You need a custom kernel with security things disabled so it will boot.

Does this contain WireGuard code? I'm currently using the kernel from when I installed TWRP, but don't like the WireGuard kernel and prefer the userspace implementation. There is no mention of WireGuard in this thread, but thought I'd ask to be sure.

EDIT: Okay, nvm, I just read this, "Kernel Source not needed at this stage, (no kernel included in zip)". Duh!

Copy & paste from telegram group :D

Greetings everyone. I'm on the LTE variant of the Tab S6 and after finally getting it rooted, installing the rom module seem to be no good.
After restarting it does boot without an issue but trying to start any app results in an instant reboot. When removing the module everything works again.

Any idea what causes this?

Hello, I am looking to get this tablet in the next few weeks and currently run this ROM on the Tab S4 do you know would a downgrade to SK1 be necessary?

Updated to latest BTC7 today (Android 10) and flashed TWRP and Magisk 20.4 right afterwards. Seem to run good so far.
Even a weird glitch is gone where it always displayed battery level at 100%, even though it was almost empty.

ANd for those who love experimenting: don't disable your Samsung keyboard if you intend to use Dex. This caused a bootloop for me which could only be resolved in "disabling" Dex through TWRP - which seem to caused the battery glitch somehow.
@Mentalmuso
If you need tester for the SM-T865 variant just let me know.

@Thyrador did you follow all of the instructions below to install TWRP and Magisk? if not what did you do differently? Thanks

Process from bone stock
1. Flash TWRP.tar in Odin
2. Reboot directly into TWRP
3. Format data, reboot recovery
4. Flash kernel <---- Did you flash the kernel or skip it. Is this kernel for TWRP only?
5. Flash encryption disabler.
6. Unmount system, Flash Magisk 19.4 (not 20.*)
7. Reboot system

I skipped the kernel since I was not sure if that would work (which I doubt). Other than that I also installed latest Magisk (20.4).
Building cache won't fail, so let it finish even if it takes more than 3 minutes.

Thank you sir for your reply. I followed the steps and assumed you skipped the kernel flash. I'm also rooted on Android 10 as well.

I just suggested checking if it’s possible to downgrade version 10 to 9. You suggested letting you know if you have a question.
Title Ninth T865XXU2ASL3 Tenth name T865XXU2BTC7 both firmware versions of the bootloader XXU2, theoretically downgrade possible.

Help me out guys I'm a little confused after reading the comments. I plan to get the S6 tablet probably model SM-T860. Im wondering what model number is the one the developer is using that way i'm on the right one? Also is this magisk module the weta kernel and viper 2.3.4 ? It seems like theres a kernel and module. I dont understand if anyone can explain that would be great.

---------- Post added at 11:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:58 PM ----------

I also see the viper 2.7.1 that runs on any driver. I was wondering how do you do that? I would like to have the super driver 2.3.4 with the viper 2.7.1 apk on all my devices if it possible I dont know how I've never heard anyone doing that.

    Installation...

    1. Get yourself rooted, follow instructions on this thread HERE
    2. Download rom module zip that corresponds to the firmware you're on. RK1 is the first build.
    3. Flash the Rom module zip, in magisk manager, follow prompts and select with volume buttons. I can't guarantee installation from flashing in TWRP.

Sounds like your on the same page as me. Android pie OneUi is hands down my favorite Rom I have it on my S7 edge so theres no need for custom rom. Just a permissive kernel, Twrp, Root, and viper. I wouldn't be buying the tablet if I couldn't get root and viper. I have the S2 tab right now and its still pretty good but it needs a few things. Quick charge, and stereo speakers on each side. The S6 has that and from what Ive heard they sound the best anyones heard on a tablet. So im looking forward to it.

Yeah the speakers are surprisingly good

Thank you I been following along on the telegram thread a little I just was getting confused. Have you guys got viper4android 2.3.4 to work on android 10 on the tablet? Im wanting to move up to 10 when I get it but right now viper 2.7.1 is the only one that 'll work on android 10 on my phone. Viper is a huge deal I could never go without it now lol. I love 2.3.4 version much better unless theres a way to get the 2.7.1 style apk to work with 2.3.4 driver.

Also, I do believe I can get the 2.3.4.0 driver to work with the updated UI. I'll mess around with it because I'm with you on the quality being superior on the older drivers
