UPDATE:

I found https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79451675&postcount=1733

Run
su -c killall -q audioserver
in a terminal.
Then Viper runs.
After rebooting it runs so you don't need to issue the terminal command again.
Wifi is working.
I spoke too soon.
Viper did not recognise the Magisk module again.
I had to run
su -c killall -q audioserver
again.
Then restarting viper worked.
So I think this needs to be incorporated in to the start up of viper so it works every time.

So I was able to get on stock Pie with root, everything booted fine. I then power off, and when I power back on, I get the unofficial binary error. I then flash Pie and root again, and sem problem after powering off.

Anything I can do that would allow me to power off / power on without the binary error?
You need to flash custom kernel, and the forced encryption disabler in my download folder. The disabler also removes some apps.

I already OEM unlocked the phone. I have been able to root my PIE rom by getting Magisk Manager to patch boot.img (from the Malaysian stock PIE rom) and flash it again through Odin. I can not install TWRP without the phone recognising it's non-genuine and locking up with a fault. I'm pretty happy I have a rooted PIE rom. I don't know if the patched file would work on ROMs other than the Malaysian stock PIE rom. I'll attach the image that I flashed to AP with Odin3-v3.13.3. So ... these Samsung devices are touchy security wise so try this at your own risk.
To be pretty sure it will work:
1. Make sure your tablet is sm-t835 (international LTE version, mine has 256GB but I don't think the GB matters to the rom. I'm not 100% sure though.)
2. Flash the Malaysian pie rom from here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s4/SM-T835/XME/download/T835DXU2BSD1/266938/
Follow the instructions and use the version of Odin (as quoted above) that sammobile provide. Don't follow their instructions about getting into Download mode. On my device, you power off, then simultaneously press power and volume up until the device vibrates and the screen comes on and then you let go of both fingers. Does Samsung make this different randomly even on the same device?
3. Set up your phone basically, until you can go in to settings and repeatedly hit "Build number" until you are a developer.
4. Activate OEM unlocking in Developer options.
5. Reboot and automatically erase the device
6. Do a basic setup so you can verify that OEM unlocking is now activated. You'll need to hit on "Build number" repeatedly again.
7. Get your device in to Download mode
8. Load the file here in to AP in Odin: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AsF1UT5mNVpthLxcdvS1d0y_Dy7NqQ
9. Flash it.
10. If you get an error, repeat steps 6, 7, 8, 9. I had to do this for some reason
11. Reboot. Setup. Install Magisk Manager latest apk, available here.: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
12. Run Magisk Manager and follow the prompts to set it up fully.
Enjoy your rooted tablet.
Why have you posted this? You can't just flash a patched stock boot.img.

You need a custom kernel, with all security disabled and permissive enabled.

This is something I have already provided in my download folder. Flashable in Odin. I did this the day after Pie became available.

Edit . Ok I see you had issues flashing the Tar. I think I mentioned somewhere that an auth error is related to bootloader not liking what is being flashed. Mismatch. I haven't seen any other reports of this

Sorry, I had no idea. Root is working with the patched stock boot.img. I'm the one who has been trying Viper4Android unofficial on your telegram channel by the way. I'll try flashing your tar again.

I was able to flash your tar file (I have your kernel and TWRP) but now my internal storage is not readable. My micro SD card died on me. It isn't recognised by the tablet or windows (doesn't even show up in Windows Disk Management). So I can flash the decryptor script. I am trying to access a USB stick through OTG. So far I am failing. Does it need to be FAT32 for TWRP to recognise it.

EDIT: I booted up again and I can now read my internal storage. If I want to flash your rom, I will need an SD card .... true?

Hi Mentalmuso,
See my telegram post for details. Managed to install everything.

Hi RedCriwx,
There is a separate rom zip for the 835 now.

Hi Mentalmuso.

Can we use "WETA_P_T830_4.0 - 4.0.1_update.zip" to update the T835 model (using WETA T387 4.0)?

As always, thank you so much for bringing life to our S4's
Yes, but it's not going to change the base used from t837 to t835, all it will do is add Dex mods

Yes, micro SD is needed, until twrp has working mtp or otg. Which is something I plan on looking into, but isn't priority at the moment

zip file corrupt errror

WETA 4.0.1 T835 + T830

Added Dex mods to rom zip
Changed T837 version to T835
Magisk 19.1 kernel patch

Hi,
I like this rom.
Congratulations - it works very very nice.

Had only some trouble installing rom zip.file, 4.0 as well as 4.01, both with zip file is corrupt errror.
Managed finally to repair it with winzip-tools, which yield "some information from central header may have be lost".
I wanna ask if others had also this zip file error?
I download romfile with chrome and firefox, to desktop and tablet, from mega and nextcloud - each time with this corrupted file.
Its a bit mysterious for me, i dont know why it happend!

Running a WiFi SM-T830 was on stock PIE image I grabbed from sammobile *XAR* I believe the last four of the build number is (BSD1). Anyways I downloaded the three files from your downloads section for my tm830 version and flashed TWRP package via Odin without issues. Once in TWRP I wiped DATA and I flashed the ROM .zip file that was successful then flashed the the dm-verity package, rebooted into recovery and made sure I could mount storage. Once I booted the tablet it started setting up. However I didn't see the Magisk app anywhere in my app drawer, so I installed Root Checker App and it said I wasn't properly rooted, I tried to install BusyBox and run it and it too said wasn't properly rooted. I installed a different Root Checker App and it actually said I WAS rooted. I remembered I had downloaded Magisk.zip and it was on my SD Card so I rebooted into TWRP recovery and flashed Magisk.zip it said it completed successfully however when rebooting the tablet when it came back up Magisk was no where to be found. Not sure what I did wrong or why the root doesnt seem to complete successfully or why one Root Checker app says I am rooted but then I cant run Busy Box because it says I am not rooted and another Root Checker says I am not lol. Hopefully a simple mistake I made somewhere, please if anyone can offer any guidance or help it's greatly appreciated!!

Simply download and install the magisk manager app. The kernel is pre patched. Pie makes it difficult to install user/data apps from twrp.

And what dmverity zip? I don't supply one. You may mean the forced encryption zip?

Edit . Also, there is a new TWRP built by me. There has been a new thread started on xda. Mtp, and otg are working.

Correct the Forced Encryption Zip. I misspoke on that. Didnt know about the new thread will head over and check it out. Thanks for the reply and all your hard work Mental much appreciated!! I will retry again this evening and check back with results. :fingers-crossed:

[UPDATE] I went back and reflashed everything also using the new TWRP package that you provided in the other thread which works great! Downloaded and installed Magisk Manager and I now have a perfectly working factory PIE image with ROOT and god its so smooth! Thanks again!!!

Hi Mentalmuso and users,
I have to ask out there in user land. Has anyone else installed Weta 4.01 on an sm-t835 and got 10 minute boot times?
I ended up going back to stock but patched with Mentalmuso's kernel and twrp with a rooted French Pie ROM, skipping installing Weta. I tried many times to install it. Always slow boot, sometimes boot-looping after 10 minutes making it more like 20 minutes.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Dan
