While the device is the cheapest offering from OnePlus, it's quite difficult to root it still..

* I somehow unlocked the bootloader after downloading dimensity drivers and using fastboot.
* The immediate next step was to extract boot.img from stock rom using payload dumper.. easy enough right? Apparently not!!.. There is no stock rom available on the OnePlus site for this device and it doesn't even support local upgrades..

There's no TWRP, Orangefox or any other recovery to install magisk as of yet.. I wonder what's wrong with the device and why one has to try so hard to root a simple phone..

If you're reading this and know a way to root, please help out..

Well it's a pretty new phone so that's why there's not much available for it yet. Have you tried googling oneplus ce 2 root. There's several guides but can't vouch for any of them.

I did Google for the rooting guides . But these are just generic with device name replaced by Nord ce2.. some sites don't even realise it's a dimensity processor and explain wrong procedures to unlock bootloader..

The one that concerned me was OnePlus official webpage showing model doesn't support local upgrades .. I couldn't find the security patch download I received a week ago too(in my phone's ota directory)

Could you provide the steps for root as well as the drivers and stock ROM?
You'll need to install mediatec dimensity drivers to enter fastboot and unlock bootloader/OEM..
From there on, you're pretty much on your own as OnePlus hasn't yet released any stock firmware yet and no custom recovery is supporting Nord ce 2

Mediatec drivers

No custom recovery is supporting it YET. It's only just been released, sure these things will happen the more people buy the phone and the longer it's out.

Agree totally with you.. just that we're spoilt by the rooting access and it's quite difficult to live without.. ;)

I rooted the Boot.img in the file attached earlier (after extracting OFP file)
Root was successful, but Wifi and Bluetooth does not work. Not sure if there are other issues.
My device has IV2201_11_A_11 version.

Is the new version available anywhere to root?
@puru request to upload that boot.img somewhere with instructions to root please

OnePlus Nord CE 2
Trying to use boot image for A.10 by @deadman96385 .
However, I have A.11 firmware.. so not entirely sure of the outputs. Fingers crossed

Using the below process
We have the same problem..
I am A.11 now..
Someone tried to patch the boot.img of A.10 and said that wifi and Bluetooth is not working..
So ..i didnt try my device..
The real question is .
Id there are ways to downgrade back to A.10..cause most rooted Nord Ce 2 is from the original stock firmware w/c is A.10..

Just wanted to update you on process. I patched the file using magisk. I tried to flash A.10 boot image, but got stumped when pc didn't recognise my device in fastboot.. tried reinstalling mediatek drivers couple times but still no luck. Will try again tomorrow.. May be Sunday is the day

I have successfully rooted my phone with Magisk on the A.12 update. Bluetooth/wifi are working. I was able to acquire the firmware files, and was able to extract the boot.img. Please note that my phone is the Indian Variant.

    Say

Says it's open beta based on android 12 unless I missed something
There's a rollback file (if you want to stop using android 12) that contains the A.13 boot.img

    Here's my patched boot.img for A13. India.
    Magisk works.
