Hi everyone,

I want to try the magnetic charging heads that stay in your phone like seen in the picture below.

I have the normal Oneplus 6 with Dash charging 5V/4A, so I want one that supports at least 5A. (Oneplus 6 McLaren uses Warp 5V/6A)

I see that see are sold the most are:

PZOZ Magnetic USB-C - QC3.0 + 1 Tip: 5V/2.4A MAX (€3,58 on Ali.)
Essager Magnetic USB-C + 1 Tip 5V/3A MAX (€3,34 on Ali.)
Volta 2.0 USBC-C + 2 Tips 5V/5A (€38.11 EUR on official website)
PZOZ 5A Magnetic USB-C 5V/5A + 1 Tip (€3,35 on Ali.)
Elough USB-C + 1 Tip 20V/5A (€9,40 on Ali official store)

The first 2 don't deliver enough Amps and the Volta one costs 10 times more as the PZOZ one. Does anyone have experience with these cables? I don't mind paying a bit more but 40€ is way too much!

Edit : It seems that none of these cables work because there's a chip the official Oneplus USB cable. (More info below)

These adapters should work:
WSKEN O series USB-C adapter 9V/?: €20 (€10 adapter €10 tip) Tested by Wizeguy
HOGORE 20Pins MagSafe to USB C Converter Support 100W Fast Charging €25 Youtube review (Untested, should work)
FUBER LYEJ2004 €8,2: (Should work according to an Ali-express seller and a review)
CELBRO (Charge & Data transfer) €4 (Untested, should work)
OLAF USB Type C Cable To Type-C Magnetic €2,6 (Untested, extremely cheap so probably bad quality...)
Baseus Magnetic USB C Adapter 5V/4,3A 85W: €8 Youtube review ( Does not work according to person on the Oneplus forums)

Extra info about the Dash charging cable
What is the OnePlus 3 DASH charging/sync cable doing internally?? Let's probe it!
Dash Charge - Technical Details? (Picure in post 11)
Dashcharge cable teardown (In Chinese)

Thanks to Wizeguy and Smurf!

It does not matter if the cable supports 5 amps. If the cable is not compatible with Dash Charge, you will not be able to charge quickly.
Yep, Dash Charge requires implementation in the charger and communication between it and the phone via the cable. The OP cable probably has dedicated lanes for this, which are not present in other cables.

So you're saying as long as the cable has Data+ and Data- wires it should work?

Nope, i'm saying the opposite :p OnePlus cables must probably have a specific implementation of the thing. If it wasn't the case, any cable would work with Dash Charge.
Ok you seem to be right, I found some info in a Redditpost

Here are some interesting sources:

So it seems it's not possible without modifying the USB-C cable then, Which is not worth the hassle for me!

So there really is an identification chip in the cable. Nice, interesting read, thanks !

So the only way I can think of is taking an original Oneplus cable cutting the USB-A side of and solder the USB type C to the other side, then put some heat shrink around it. Not worth the hassle, plus I don't want to destroy the original cable.

In the color options choose 2 in 1 USB C. When you get it, plug in the dash brick + cable and it works.

(ty Smurf for letting me know it works, ordered one myself)
Thanks!

The link you sent me gives me a 404 error on my phone and I can't add it to my card on the computer. I found this link but it says the product is no longer available. But I know what to look for now.

I'll update the first post with the recommendation, your credits (and smurf) later.

Just ordered an adapter from wsken. Will report back if dash charge worked for me as described here.

Someone on Amazon also confirmed dash charge works with the adapter.

I've received my adapter and can confirm that dash charge works with it. I'm really impressed.

(sorry, having trouble to display images)

But I have a question. I'm having trouble getting the adapter to sit flush on the OnePlus cable. I feel like it's bottoming out. Does anyone have experience with the wsken adapter and the OnePlus cable?

ordered the same adaptor, same problem here. i think the female port of the adaptor is just a little on the short side.

Have you gotten anything back? And does anyone know if this works with warp charge?
Never heard back from them. Tried a couple of different addresses, but never got a response.

I've been using two sets with this set up and dash charge does work good enough (speed is not quite the same and magnetic parts get a little too hot).

I cannot speak about warp charge, although I should stress the parts do get hot, specially when battery starts to charge on lower levels. I can only imagine with warp charge would get worse. So I would advise monitor it the first few charges and find out if you're comfortable with what you see.

Also, mechanically speaking, the connection with the adapter is not as strong and the phone cannot be really used while charging. With the wsken magnetic cable you certainly can, albeit with some caution since it is easy to unplug it.

Hope that helps.
