I can find various folks asking about this, but have yet to see a definitive answer. Right now, if I run IE, a GPRS/Edge connection comes up fine automatically. However, some utilities don't start a connection and so fail. If I run IE first to get the connection going, the utilities run OK.
So, two questions for the fray:
1) Is there a simple way to just trigger establishment of a GPRS/Edge connection, in preparation for running utilities that need that connection (short of running IE every time, that is...)
2) I've seen the registry hack to keep GPRS/Edge up at all times. Are there any negative ramifications to doing this? I wouldn't expect faster battery drain just from keeping the endpoints established, but one never knows about these implemenations.
Thanks!
