Apparently eSIM MEP is back in this beta? Can anyone confirm dual eSIM? I'll upgrade in a heartbeat if so.

I think I've seen at least 3- 4 people confirm it's working for them, via Telegram and Twitter, for what it's worth. I can't personally confirm myself as I only use 1 eSim.

Dumb question. I'm just wondering what the benefit of dual Sims are?
In my case, it allows me to go for the cheapest possible data SIM while having a $3-$5 SIM for my primary number for texts and phone calls. Means I don't have to port my number and all the hassle that comes with that (I have ported my number one time - back in 2020 when I switched to Tello - and that's only because my Google Voice number I've had since 2007 started to be rejected by companies for 2FA even though it's literally on my credit report). The Pixel allows me to assign one SIM for data and the other for phone calls and messages easily.

The key feature here though is dual *eSIM*. I have already made my primary provider an eSIM. Now my secondary provider can be too. This means all the free trial SIMs that the carriers offer mean I can literally just go for whatever is the cheapest for data, eSIM or pSIM, and I can have any mix I want instead of the traditional pSIM + eSIM configuration.

This is a landmark feature and will absolutely drive prices down once more customers become aware of it. Why would I pay Verizon $90 a month when I could pay Visible $45 for the same quality of service? Well the reason is because Visible is crap when things go wrong and they have a history of losing people's numbers when porting in or out. With dual eSIM, I can just make Visible my data SIM and if/when things go wrong, just go back to my safe and sound cheap eSIM (Tello in my case) and find something else.

I also tend to replace my phones every year. The various carriers are starting to offer free trial eSIMs. Based on the current market situation, I could easily have 3-5 months of free data service and 7-9 months of paying less than $10 each year to secure my main number.

Imagine this - here in the USA we have three major carriers. What if there was a provider that came along that ran on two of the three networks and you had an eSIM for the fourth? Well Dish Network is launching wireless service that uses their network as the first but AT&T and T-Mobile as roaming. I already have it, it's called Boost Infinite (currently running just on AT&T but the multi-network SIM cards are coming some time this year). Now I can just add a cheap Verizon provider like mobileX (currently in beta but they offer priority data on Verizon with pricing tailored to low data usage customers and they're perfect for a backup carrier) and in a few taps on my phone, switch between all three networks + Dish's regional network (I'm in their home market basically down the street and their network is all over here).

The possibilities with dual SIM are endless. And even further to the point -- who ever complained about having more options besides the carriers? eSIM has been a reality for years and it wasn't until Apple forced the carriers' hands with the iPhone 14 being eSIM only last year that they made any steps towards it being ubiquitous. Google has relied on eSIM for Fi since day one but they just didn't have the pull to do what Apple did.

I am on QPR2 Beta 2.1 but can't activate dual esims. I enrolled in the beta for this feature alone :(

Since the QPR2, the padding changed and I really don't like it for the folders. Is there any way to change that setting?

    About Android 13 QPR3

Following the stable release of Android 13 to AOSP, we continue to update the platform with fixes and improvements that are then rolled out to supported devices. These releases happen on a quarterly cadence through Quarterly Platform Releases (QPRs), which are delivered both to AOSP and to Google Pixel devices as part of Feature Drops.
Although these updates don't include app-impacting API changes, we provide images of the latest QPR beta builds so you can test your app with these builds as needed.
Unlike developer previews and betas for unreleased versions of Android, these builds are suitable for general use. However, please review any known issues that are listed on this page.

    Hi guys!
Is there anything to have in mind when you join beta releases?
Do I have to wipe? Do any apps stop working? Like Banking apps, Google Pay or somethings like these?
I have so bad battery draining that I now go through all options I may have to get a new software release without setting up my phone again :)

All of your banking could not work at all. Betas don't pass CTS check. Just saying. Best thing to do on a battery drain, is not chase it charging. Let it die. Then charge it completely while powered off. It's sometimes a pain. But it will reset your battery stats in the phone and if anything is hanging in the background, it will clear it.

For anyone who doesn't notice Google's official announcement in those above, and what to do if you're on the QPR2 Beta 3.x and want to be on stable:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/android_beta/comments/11nz32q
    Hi Beta users,

With the release of our final Android 13 QPR2 Beta update a few weeks ago, we are now preparing for our next Beta Program cycle that covers our Android 13 June release (QPR3). Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1 will kick off the week of March 13th. If you take no action and remain enrolled in the Beta Program, you will automatically receive Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1 starting next week.

We are changing our beta release process - to receive the upcoming March QPR2 public stable release, devices currently enrolled in Beta will need to first opt out of the program. Devices that remain enrolled in the Beta Program will receive Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1.

If you prefer to exit the Beta Program and receive the final public March QPR2 update without the need to wipe your data, please do one of the following:

    • Opt out of the program before March 13th, ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the final public stable release of the March Feature Drop (QPR2) releasing this month. Opting out will not cause a data wipe as long as you don’t apply the downgrade OTA. Note: If you want to immediately return to the latest public version, you can apply the downgrade OTA which will require a data wipe per usual program guidelines.
    • If you receive the Android 13 QPR3 Beta 1 update, don’t install the update. Instead, first opt out of the program, ignore/don’t apply the downgrade OTA update, and wait for the official March public release. Note: If you opt-out of the program after installing the QPR3 beta 1 update, all user data on the device will get wiped per usual program guidelines.
We will continue to post updates and information on the upcoming Android 13 QPR3 Beta here in this community.

I don't plan on testing Betas of any sort, but feel free to use this thread for everything about the QPR Betas or major Android version betas for the Pixel 7 Pro. I'll update the information in the OP when necessary. See Post #2 in my main thread for general information (Unlocking Bootloader / Rooting / Updating | SafetyNet working again | ADB/Fastboot & Windows USB Drivers) but ask questions or make observations about all betas in this thread, please.

Once a QPR or major Android version goes final, I'll take those discussions to my main thread.

The Beta also introduces support for some new carriers, some of which are the first ones for some countries (Portugal, Lithuania, Finland, Estonia), this means 5G working out of the box aswell as proper LTE Aggregation combinations (VoLTE depends on another configuration so that could take some time):

    About Android 13 QPR2

Android 13 QPR2 builds on the updates in Android 13 QPR1 and the Android 13 initial release and includes the next round of refinements such as bug fixes and improvements to stability and performance.

    • Pixel 5 and 5a

    General advisories

Be aware of these general advisories about the release:
    • This release might have various stability, battery, or performance issues.
    • For users with accessibility needs, this release might not be appropriate for daily use.
    • Some apps might not function as expected when running on this release. This limitation includes Google's apps as well as other apps.
    • Android 13 QPR beta builds aren't Compatibility Test Suite (CTS)‑approved, but they have passed preliminary testing and provide a stable set of pre-release APIs for developers. Apps that depend on CTS-approved builds or use SafetyNet APIs might not work normally on Android 13 QPR beta builds.
