Massive battery drain in MM

Unfortunately i don't think that posting about this in a specific rom development topic will do any good since i came to conclusion that this "bug" is some sort of a lottery. Some people have it, some don't. On LP i did not experience anything similar to this, and my battery backup was 3-4 times longer than on MM. Anyway, i'm trying something out, will see if it does anything about the drain :fingers-crossed:

Update:
I flashed the rom without installing any of the apps and i got great results. Deep sleep was almost 100% during the night, just a couple of wakes. It seems that there was indeed an app that was causing the drain. Now i just gotta find it and destroy it with extreme prejudice

Final update:
It was a navigation app that was causing the drain by waking the sensors during the night in airplane mode... this was not happening on LP. Well, the app is gone, tried another app, same thing. I guess i will not be installing these kind of apps anymore
Nice one! I had to do the same thing a couple of years ago. Which one was the rogue app?

Yeah, thanks for the tip, never would've thought about that. It was Here Maps that was waking the sensors.. pitty, i really liked that app. Also tried maps.me - same result

I feel your pain, i got it back too. I did nothing new with the phone, except rebooting it. I noticed that in settings ->privacy->privacy guard->advanced->wi fi scan is used a lot, even if i turn off the scanning.. @atomix18 can you check/share your stats?

For me too there are a lot of usage of wifi scan. Now in wakelock detector the wakekocks are from alarm and launch. I am on AICP rom now, it has wakelock blocker but i am not sure if it's working, but i will test, because blocker shows these two wakelocks - alarm and launch. I will try and write here for results.

Wakelock blocker in AICP rom didn't work for me. After disable the wakelocks i had again this battery drain and worse deep sleep about 30%

Hi guys i think i found a solution for that f..king battery drain. After trying almost all of MM roms and all of them had drain, also AICP MM on which i am now, i decided to go back to Lolipop. So i downloaded AICP last LP build, flashed and guess there also was the same battery draining and this thing scared me :D. Then i flashed CM12.1 snapshot and when i leaved my phone with turned screen off the deep sleep was 85 - 90 %, but then it began to falling down to 60%. Then i remembered that in wakelock detector my drainer was "alarm" so what i did is to uninstall the two clocks from settings apps. And guess what the deep sleep increased to 95 %. After that i downloaded AICP MM and did the same thing disabled "cyanogenmod clock" and stopped the services, activity, broadcast receiver, content provider of "android deskclock" with My android tools and leaved the phone for one night and this is the result. I didn't uninstall them with app remover because with next update they will be installed again. So have a try guys and say if this works for you!

I haven't tried any other clock app from play store.

does anyone experience battery drain on reboot , my mi4 battery drop 3->10% each reboot.
I have the same problem with Mokee MM. Battery drops drastically with every reboot and eventually, the phone powers off. However, the strange thing is that when I plug in the charger (with the phone off), my battery charge is displayed around 30-35%

It presents in every custom roms from lollipop to m ... all the custom roms i have used have this issue, do you notice if it happens in stock rom, so maybe it is a hardware proplem.

I too face battery drain with *alarm* at the top keeping phone awake.
Disabling clock app ? Sorry but, will that not destroy the basic function of phone ? No clock ? Will it still keep time ? And what about putting alarm ? Have you tried with any third party clock app ?

Battery needs to be calibrated if you frequently flash different ROMs. Try XtremeBatteryCalibrate tool in general android development thread..

Glad you got rid of that damn battery drain :highfive:, although i don't know why disabling the clock app worked for you since *alarm* wakelock has nothing to do with the alarm in clock app:confused: Anyway, that will not work in my case since i figured out that my battery drain is caused by "something" that is causing my sensors to keep the phone awake. I renamed system/bin/sensors.qcom to system/bin/sensors.qcom1, rebooted the phone and the battery drain was no more. The "only" downside is that now none of the phones sensors are working. POS phone, should have bought the OPO.

As you see in the picture in the right top corner there is a clock, actually you can not set up an alarm and you dont have clock widget on home screen, but you have on lock screen :)
I have not tried other clock app!

I tried but no luck, use battery calibration, charge battery to 100% press calibrate, unplug, reboot and battery still drain 3% each, sometimes up to 10% or more.

So we have to periodically keep blocking and unblocking to use the phone?

Most of the Battery calibration apps in playstore dont do anything. They are just like a prank app.
1) Wipe dalvik / cache from recovery
2) Try XBC from android development forum. Thread by androidexpert35
3) Try default MiUi ROM with clean flash and no app restore from titanium or anything else.
3) If still does not work, then might be your battery is about to die...

So there is no *alarm* wakelock keeping phone awake ? Great. But i also think *alarm* is not used by clock app only, its used by many apps. And for alarm, we can use some third party alarm app. Cheers...
