Looking for advice in chasing bugs
Since upgrading from Beta 10 to CM9 V 1.0, I've been plagued with spontaneous reboots. This has not happened to this degree with any of the ICS betas going back to 5 or 6. It seems to happen most often when I'm reading something (e-mail or RSS feeds, for example) as opposed to playing a game, surfing the web, or using a file manager.
I have been looking into logcat as a possible way of learning more about what is going on, and have RTFM (At least the man page) - but I need some help in interpreting the output, which I haven't been able to find with Google.
for example, I see a lot of messages like this:
Code:
W/PackageManager( 149): Not granting permission android.permission.WRITE_APN_SETTINGS to package com.fsecure.browser (protectionLevel=3 flags=0xbe44)
even after having done a "repair permissions" in CWM.
And does this mean there is something wrong with my SD Card?:
Code:
I/Vold ( 67): Vold 2.1 (the revenge) firing up
D/Vold ( 67): Volume sdcard state changing -1 (Initializing) -> 0 (No-Media)
D/Vold ( 67): Volume sdcard state changing 0 (No-Media) -> 2 (Pending)
D/DirectVolume( 67): DirectVolume::handlePartitionAdded -> MAJOR 179, MINOR 1, PARTN 1
D/DirectVolume( 67): DirectVolume::handlePartitionAdded -> MAJOR 179, MINOR 2, PARTN 2
D/Vold ( 67): Volume sdcard state changing 2 (Pending) -> 1 (Idle-Unmounted)
This is looking like a case of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing
I'm asking if anyone can point me to a source of information on interpreting the logcat output, rather than specific help with the entries above... teach me to fish, rather than giving me a meal!
TIA
Walt
