My phone was unlocked and rooted, model KIW-L24.
I forgot my password and restarted my phone, which meant I was locked out. While trying to factory reset the phone, I accidentally deleted my system files/OS, which meant being stuck in a boot loop. It never powered down, just kept restarting. I tried installing firmware files and recovery imgs, but every time the phone would just reboot back to the Recovery Team Win Install/Wipe/Recover/Reboot/etc screen. I reset again, and now I can only get to two screens:

-Fastboot&Rescue, in which it states to connect a USB and open Hisuite (I did, Hisuite won't open and
-EMUI, in which my options are Reboot system now, Wipe data/factory reset, and Wipe cache partition. Reboot now just takes me to the same EMUI screen.

I extracted the update.app file to my sd card, but I keep getting "error: cannot load 'boot/system/cust.img'" in fastboot. Recovery.img is the only one that completes.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

Relax, I wipe everything except microsd whenever i wanna do a full reset, if you're stuck on the stock recovery when it's all wiped, here: Don't extract the update.app file, go onto your external sdcard, make a folder called "dload" and put the UPDATE.APP file in there, put it in the honor 5x, and hold own volumeUp+volumeDown+Power, and when it vibrates, let go of power and keep holding the other two, and it should start to reinstall automatically

Doing so brings me to Huawei eRecovery, where I get "Getting package info failed." Is there a possibility I'm doing something wrong?

If you have bootloader unlocked flash stock recovery.
Writing from a different account because I can't login: performing actions like fastboot flash boot boot.img just gets error messages, like I said in the first post. It keeps saying "error: cannot load 'boot.img'"
