I am a novice with smartphones, and actually my Atrix 4G MB861 (Korean version) has been my first and only smartphone since 2011. It has worked well until recently. It is able to receive calls and messages, but I am unable to type or send messages and unable to call. It is also acting quite slowly at times, with about ten seconds lag each time a button is pressed or app is opened. It used to do this occasionally before, but now it is regularly occurring. Due to the way Korean service plans work (min. 2 years contract with expensive early withdrawal penalty fees), I would like to try to repair the phone on my own. I have not used any ROMs or software modifications, but here are the current software specs: Android version 2.3.5, Webtop version WT-1.2.0-163_12, Kernel version 2.6.32.9-00004-gfbc746e. But I think it is a hardware problem, as I noticed that it overheated and felt really hot right before the problem. I'm not sure how to go about it, my guess is that the CMOS battery may need to be replaced, similar to the solution for the bluetooth and wireless problems (which I have never experienced with this phone)? I have been using the original manufacturer supplied battery and a spare battery, but battery power seems to last normally. Any input or DIY suggestions would be much appreciated.
