I don't think it is relevant to know in advance. If they say it is Android 12 and it isn't, it's wrong by them. They can really change it with a new Android version on new units, that is different than Android version on the units sold before. We can't judge that on previous experience (although we might know better).
If they say it has HDMI instead of 360cam, you als have to trust the advertisement. And if it is wrong, the reseller is wrong.
If they say that the M6pro has a 2000x1200 screen, and you get a 1280x720, because others have it as well, the reseller is wrong.
You order based on what they advertise, not on experience on previous models or previous buyers.
That we know better in practice and that is is different in practice, is not relevant. Legally the reseller is wrong.
Initially, I watched a Youtube video about the unit that mentioned all the features and I was sold on the unit specifically for the HDMI input combined with the 2k screen. I had never used Aliexpress before, so this was my first order, and I admit it is my fault that I missed the fact that the HDMI INPUT is an optional extra. I also missed that it didn't include a standard ISO connector, I had to get one after the unit arrived. I initially ordered the M6 Pro Plus along with the front & rear dashcam, the RCA output and the HDMI Output. I was then googling around on the unit when I came across people asking why their unit didn't have the HDMI Input when they received it, and that's when I found out it's optional. I went back to the listing on AE and found the bit about the input, but the link on there takes you to the output instead, so there is no way to order the input from the main listing. I messaged Mekede right away, and asked them to ensure they didn't ship it without the input. They then gave me another link to the input which I had to purchase, so I did. Now, on AE, I had two orders, one for the HDMI input & the other for the original 4 items.
All the items came together & I took a video of the unboxing. Everything was fine except the HDMI Output was missing. I initially thought they'd either send it or refund it, not much of an issue, so I installed the rest of the stuff in my car and all was working fine. I had my RPI emulator plugged in to test and to get it onscreen there was an "app" that you had to launch simply called HDMI or HDMI1, can't remember. Then I tried programming the steering wheel controls which with my car (without canbus) doesn't work, but somehow it managed to program the feed it was getting as the volume down input, so the unit was constantly turning the volume down to nothing. I couldn't find a way to clear the setting, so I did a factory reset seeing as I was just setting up the unit anyway. That's when I found that the HDMI icon to switch to the input was missing.
To begin with I simply messaged Mekede & told them of these two issues. I think they got confused between the input & output because they offered to refund the input but were adamant they had shipped the output. Then they kept saying I had to solder the input onto the board, even though it's already there, and they just couldn't seem to understand that all I need is the software. There is nothing in the settings (including hidden factory options) to do with the HDMI, so I assume it's an app that needs to be installed. That's when google bought me to this forum again where I've asked a couple of times for help with this issue. This is also when I found out about the fake Android 12. If anyone does have one of these units with the input option, I believe it's possible to get the APK from their system. I'm hopeful someone will be able to help soon.
I opened two disputes on AE, one for the separate order of the input, and another for the output which was part of the main order. After a week of back & forth with obvious translation / understanding issues, AE has so far sided with the seller on everything, even though I've provided the video evidence. I then only opened the dispute regarding Android 12 to keep things open on the main unit because of the time limit & the HDMI input is part of that unit but AE treat them as separate items. As I said before, there's no point in the 2k screen if I have to use RCA to connect to it (which I haven't even tried yet). I've made it clear I don't want the HDMI input refunding, I just want the ability to access it. For the last two days, Mekede have said exactly the same thing. "Send me your email, I give APK" - I'm still waiting. I've also made it clear I'll close the dispute on the main unit & the input once they've sent the software & it's working again. I'm not after something for nothing, I don't care about the fake android issue & I'm not looking for a discount because of it, I just want what I paid for to actually work & the one item I didn't receive either sent out or refunded. In the dispute for the HDMI Output, Mekede sent a video that supposedly shows my order being packed with the output in it. It's not my order, which was easily proved because the head unit box model label doesn't say "+ HDMI" like mine does. Again, AE side with the seller. It's just so frustrating & time consuming jumping through the hoops for their dispute process over something that could so easily be sorted out.
